(why'd I feel dat police officers are for public decos only... No offense.)
Thats why there's Mad Max.

http://leegrantphotography.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/madmax.jpg

And unfortunately I agree with your sentiment.

When I was 15 or so I had to stop a robbery / maid abduction in the neighbourhood myself because the cops took 25 minutes for two officers in a car to arrive.

When there was a minor family quibble next door they only took 5 minutes and I think at least 3 police cars arrived.

More recently I was involved as a bystander in an "Caucasian assaulting drunk Chinese man in Geylang" incident.

There were over 20 people in the vicinity and 2 other friends with me.

Out of those 22 persons only I stepped up to mediate in the exchange while the rest whipped out their handphones and started recording :p

According to the friends with me there were cops nearby patrolling and they flatly refused to intervene.

Why do we pay income tax for again?

Are you serious!? That's something I do not know until you share. That sux lor. Like make no big diff from m'sia police force (bad comparison but anyway).

Summore if public intervene (retrieve from the link about the electric IU case):

There may not be a blameworthy mind and hence a blameworthy action to cause the hurt, but I believe the authorities can still fault him for positioning the HV device in such a way it is prone to cause danger.

After all, if they just "let him go" - people will think that they can get away with vigilante justice, and take things into their own hands. I'm pretty sure the authorities won't want things that way.

Was taking a look at Sec. 337 of PC (Cap. 224); it's written "Whoever causes HURT to any person BY doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others, shall be punished".

Also in Sec. 336 ...

Whoever does any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others, shall be punished —

(a) in the case of a rash act, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 6 months, or with fine which may extend to $2,500, or with both; or

(b) in the case of a negligent act, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 months, or with fine which may extend to $1,500, or with both.

Someone please tell me what does sg police do!?!?!? ....Other than doing traffic accident recording that is.... (its part of their job too right?)

then car oso no nid to wash what. :cheeky:

srsly speaking, washing bike will help you at least in a few ways:

- you will be able to get rid of the grime forming everywhere. more grime, your bike will lose the shine.

- you can also detect problems earlier, like punctured tires, misalign forks etc.

the most important thing though, so your lower body dun get itchy.

Just now only, I walking around the estate, and two boys with helmet were ready to go out on a SP.

The SP was parked on a disabled walk/ramp and on that walk/ramp is a portable laundry drying thingy, and on it was some drying floor mats and I saw a piece of black underwear.

I simply tell the rider to push the bike out of the ramp and not to start the bike there cos its exhaust is pointing directly at the laundry drying there.

His pillion, was trying to tell me, that they are going out already, and even after I voiced my concern about the laundry. The boy still keep insisting its okay. Its his laundry.

I think the rider understood and pushed the bike out. But I doubt the pillion understood when I say, that wait his underwear is 2t smell.

I am not particular about where the bike was parked at my estate lah, I was concerned about the laundry because, 2t smell as your perfume is kinda extreme for me.

If you hate rust with a vengeance like I do, prevention is better than cure - keep the bike covered when it's raining, and polish often :D

Once the cover flew off and oh dear, lots of white calcium deposits to clean off. And they are hard to clean!

And the bystanders all ask "wah, going out to pick girl ah?" when I do my rounds outside my office.

Oh I rem something which I find myself feeling curious, summore said by a mechanic

(prolly joke with me only i dunno)

Mechanic: Dun wash la, the more you wash, the more the bike will spoil.

I assume hes talking about bike parts which will be affected by the washing?

True or false? Bike will spoil faster after washing many times? lols~*

For this reason many ang moh moto liao jiaos don't recommend using pressure washers on motorbikes. You can damage fixtures and some exposed components using high pressure hoses.

I avoid those "bike wash" shops for this reason.

Bike care also keeps your mind healthy when it comes to biking matters. You'll know the condition of all your parts and if you don't wash your bike, ever,

One day you'll notice a bit too late that your monoshock was rusting away all these years being steadily corroded by water and debris kicked up while riding...

Or that the bolt holding the exhaust to the frame has "disappeared".

uh oh... i go for a full bike wash without fail every week.. :(

i do tell them to avoid jet steaming the electric starter area cos there were times where my electric starter will go berserk after a full bike wash..

I every week also wash and polish and wax. Frankly yes it does sometime have some problems if you tend to spray water at places where not suppose to let too much water in, like Exhaust....

Immediately once after you wash, i use to start engine immediately after rinse the soap away. So as to faster dry up the bike as i wipe it and also those part suppose to be dry kept as dry as soon as possible. Like spark plug sometimes might get wet due to wash. So starting engine can help to dry it further.

At least thats how i do. Been doing that since class 2B.

i dont know if this is commonly heard amongst other races, but i do hear this several times.

eating at macs, heard a group of minahs oggling about biker boys and slamming the biker girls.

girl A : pompan bawak motor ferring slalu nak step pantat jack siak (girls riding sportsbike always jut their buT.ts out)

i feel like telling them to their faces, ask them try sit on a kr/sp/tzm and see if their pikus jut out or not. low-lewel thinking stereotypes amongst malays. does this topic arise for other races?

cmon lah sista, we ladies have shorter upper torsos what. we have to stretch out and thus the riding posture makes it look as if we are portraying our pikus to all the road users....

I think the question was for the stereotyper, not the stereotyped.... I never noticed ah lians saying such stuff but then again I tend to tune them out anyway. I should think that it's the same for them as well bah.

allow me to share my part.

my estate here ish veli messy wan, on dis particular incident, i was eating supper with fren in a coffeeshop, there was a group of punters near us betting away excitedly, noisily.

Normally "they" hold such activities in dark corners quietly, but these days like "bo zheng hu" (no gahmen), can do anything they like.

and so, i was commenting to my fren that they should at least keep their voice down, as it's ald 2am or so, and if there were police patrol, would they still continue.

Just as i was saying, a police patrol car stopped by the roadside, looked @ the punters for a good 2 mins... ... ... ... and simply went off! :faint: hong g@nz liaoz.. :dozed:

Must be the vibes here on this thread.

 at least just stand their grounds la, can just remain in car while call for backup, no? kinda like fireman running away from a fire w/ the fire-fighting equipment in hand, or a doctor driving away from a sick man who needs his help.

that one kenna bashed up is coz they blow their cover up too early, or rather, backup came too late. 2 diff things.

use a hose to wash the bike, can place your finger over the hole to create a mini "pressure spray", that one is weaker than normal pressure spray... no prob one

if you are really scared of wetting parts that shouldnt be wetted, use a container and pour... confirm safe one

for my scrambler after trail ride i used to send it to petrol kiosk for them to use pressure hose on it, removes the mud fast. everytime after wash the bike can start, no problem lei...

if the water got onto the spark plug, i suppose that means time to change spark plug cap...

regarding washing the bike too often... erm i suppose if you wax it too often the layer of lacquer will wear down faster...

Nothing wrong with that riding posture. It's silly to buy a sportsbike and sit straight up like a cruiser rider, not appreciating the aerodynamics and weight-forward bias of a tank-hugging posture that a sportsbike provides. Almost anyone can look fast and furious leaning forward like that :3

For those with an appreciation of art, it's definitely inspiring, even :D

hmm.... i dunno if i'd ever ride sportsbike (riding phantom) cos i'd still end up sitting straight on any kinds of bikes... *too used to it* :cheeky:
