For me I got no problem going to Taiwan for a week, arming the bike for a week, and riding it after the week. =)

Like any other bike not started for a week, the bike will be more difficult to crank thats all.

YEap... no issues..

I'm using a SPY 2-way alarm and have not have any issues yet.

Do note that I am low user of my bike so my bike is often left alone with the alarm system activated.

I guess it also depends how it has been wired.

I heard from one forumer that his bike battery used to die also but it can be prevented with proper installation so that is no leakage of charge or current.

Its not about hard you can hit, its about how many times you can take a hit and remain standing

Or another option or precaution you can do to your bike is to do grounding, install PA's are few of the examples

power abuser?? :)

Yup... Get those Power Abuser Auto and Ignite. If you have an old bike, recommended to install. If new bike, and wanna make your batt life more longer, use also. If you get the alarm, set the sensivity level to 3. If set to 4, even raining also the alarm can trigger off. :cheeky:

Guys i am planning to buy STEELMATE 2 way bike alarm model 883. The old model with the LED remote not the LCD display. Any riders using that? Need comments and info about that alarm. I am riding Honda SP and i usually dun touch my bike for weeks due to NS. So i hope that this alarm dun drain up my battery if armed. So any advice wat must i do? thanks lots...:)

i will say forget about the alarm.. instead get a bike cover :)

for me i've a spy alarm installed on my bike.. but i dont armed it at all.. this alarm is only used when i'm parking my bike in malaysia..

the bike cover will be more useful in your case as u're enlisting.. having a bike cover on will prevent people from sitting/touching your bike and also shelter your bike from the crazy weather in Sg!

Unless your area is prone to bike theft, then just forget the bike alarm for now unless its really necessary..

hey bros, didnt know this thread still up.

Btw some updates, got myself a 2way steelmate from rabbit and nope the alarm didnt drain my batt to flat after leaving my bike armed for 4 days in the carpark. Still able to start the bike without any problems. And as for the remote start, i once did used the remote start for a trip without the key in the ignition. The alarm auto switch off the ignition few times while i was riding . Maby its due to the vibration of my 2 stroke bike but come to think of it i kept the remote in my bag pack while i was riding. Safety wise my advice dont use the remote start for a long trip.

I do agreed bike cover is required.. but it would be the best if a bike cover with a alarm.. because.. bike cover nice ma.. everyone see liaoz also wan.. so they steal yours.. But if with alarm.. they got scared by the alarm..

haha.. yeah.. remote start not recommended.. because your battery is "being sort of" drained as it's not going thru the "normal" circuit.. it's going into your alarm system unit and go thru the small/thin wire to power up your bike.. long distance might fry up your small tiny wire.. and oh no.. why no electric liaoz? lol... :)
