for 2-stroke best use transmission oi/gear oil... like bel ray gear saver or motul transoil... but normal EO wouldnt do any harm also//

Motul 300v is a very good synthetic ester based oil , retailing perhaps at $40 or so if I remember correctly.

M300V is the kind of oil I would use on my Phantom if I modified the bike to cruise at 120kph+ on the NSH. Ie, it is regarded as one of the top choices in oil.

If you're using your bike for 'race' level performance on a regular basis, stick to M300V, otherwise, I can safely assure you that an oil with half the price tag.. or less, can do the same job.

I doubt the sincerity of those 'packages' as spark plug life is definitely more than oil life. (I sometimes change oil as frequently as 1500km after engine rebuilds). If the spark plug is fouling excessively or prematurely then I'd look at carb settings and 2T used.

i using motul300v

i change wif spark plug cost me $32 dollar.

or no need use till 300v?

or 5100 enough

$32 with plug is cheap for m300!

Depends on your riding style really. If I were on a SP I'd be doing traffic light drags all day and cruising at 130 with the BMWs and sports cars.

If you use the bike for daily commuting I bet you can save cost on the plug and the oil without risking the machine. 5100 is actually a great oil (currently using that before I try Amsoil full synthetic in a month or so).

Save the $16 for future maintenence / repair costs!

bro thx for ur advice

so 5100 enough liao hor?

wat the different between 5100 n 300 i abit blur sorry-x

Lol no prob, learn something new every day :3

Motul 5100 is a semi synthetic JASO spec motorcycle oil (JASO means wet clutch friendly) available for $16-18. Semi synthetic means a blend of petroleum oil and synthetic oil.

M300V is a full synthetic oil.

What's the difference? Synthetic oil is comprised of man-made molecules which give superior quality lubricants compared to natural, or "dino" oil. Synthetic oil flows faster, protects better in cold start and high temperature conditions, but also cost more.

If you ever bought a BMW or other luxury performance car chances are that it's optimised for synthetic oil (BMW, Mercedes, etc have their own oil testing and certification!).

Your SP and my Phantom however are a few generations behind the current engine technologies, and built for durability anyway, so chances are that even $10 EO frequently changed is enough pampering.

Synthetic oil is more "durable" than dino oil but for a wet clutch motorcycle, frequent oil changes are necessary to remove metal deposits derived from normal operation.

I would rather spend $10 changing oil at 2000km intervals than $30-50 on top grade synthetic but all the debris is flying around in the sump until 5000km.

The bikes I own tend to be ridden at full throttle on a daily basis so regular oil changes are a plus.

As for brands I'll leave it up to those who've rode NSRs before to comment because each community has their favourite.

But for your case a good 10W40 oil should be adequate.

There are pros and cons to using a heavy oil like 20W50 because it flows slower at starting temps and heavy oil is more resistance to the engine which you probably won't like.

Why the Phantom community (PKs) like Motul 3000 20W50? It's damned smooth, doesn't break down at high speed / high temp conditions (aka wide open throttle) as easily as Castrol 10W40, and aircooled engines are manufactured to greater tolerances (ie, wider gaps between moving parts) than liquid cooled engines. SP is liquid cooled yes?

I personally find maxima full synthetic the best EO for me.. the bike felt much nicer 2 ride after i used maxima.. juz my 2 cents worth :)
