haha slowly... take ur time and calculate ur expenses and c if u realli wan a s4 or cbr haha.... and also meanwhile can save up also....

cbr400 stock sound nicer than s4 stock,

 

hmm

i believe s4 if completely breakdown even repair also cheaper than cbr400 complete breakdown

 

u might find s4 is heavier than cbr400 however s4 is good bike la

 

s4 going different style than cbr400

 

riding s4 now before that thinking get cbr400 also but i heard and alot ppl recommend get s4 instead of cbr400

 

however performance cannot compare la the gear ratio

I ride a S4 and I agree on this, but S4 got its unique sound. Exhaust + chain lol.

 

TS, bro I know how you feel, I die die wanted a cbr400. I survey bike shops alot the condition not up to my liking, end up buying a 98 Ver S. Never regretted. Yes it's a common bike, but it's that way for a reason.

 

I still love the cbr400. If I had the financial means to buy one, I would. But as alot of bros said. Be prepared for wear and tear parts.

How i wish they come out with Aprilia RSV400/Suzuki GSX-R400K/Yamaha YZF-R4/Kawasaki ZX-4R and Honda CBR400RR which all follow like their big bro..

TS, do u plan to upgrade to cl2 anytime soon? If so, dun waste ur time & moolah on cl2a sportsbikes. Juz get a s4 (a ver s or spec1 will do fine) and wen e time comes, go for cl2 sportsbikes.

 

u will definitely save more $ on a ver s den on a cbr4. Ppl will say must follow ur heart and ride wad u want, but wd u rather ride a cbr4 or ride a s4 for 1 or 2 years den ride on a cbr600/1000 instead?

i jus list out a few things common to replace on the blade lo..

 

Magneto Coil $400?

Starter Relay $60?

Starter Carbon $80?

Rectifier $120?

Radiator $400+

Thermostat $100+

Valve Clearance $300?

Coolant pump $120

 

Apart from all this common to cbr stuff, u might also notice due to age,

thin brake disks

outta alignment front end due to accidents

leaky forks

soft rear shock

burnt fuse box because of overrated headlights

melted headlights switchbox

headlight reflector peeling

 

thats about all i can rmb only.. in the end, my blade consume engine oil. and that was the last straw.

 

from my experience on NC23, i just buying parts and DIY :)

 

Magneto Coil $400(brought only around $230-250,2nd hand around S$90-120)

Starter Relay $60(brought only around $26-30)

Starter Carbon $80(nv change before)

*Rectifier $120(brought only around $60,2nd hand around S$30-45)

Radiator $400(brought only around $400++,2nd hand around $120)

Thermostat $100(brought only around $30-45)

Valve Clearance $300(nv DIY before :cheeky:)

Coolant pump $120(brought only around S$110)

 

*note:-

using RVF/S4Vtec is more expensive.

go to cbr forum n u can learn alot. last time riding cbr400 too. u can ask fx110 anyting. haha. he knws abt cbr400 rectifier 120? hmm kanna chop. that is if u buy n ask shop to fix. if u fix urself its ard 55 tp 65 bucks. can buy at ah boy. just pluck. sometimes if u learn hw to do urself, u save damn alot. for service and maintainence ask the cbr400 thread they r more than happy to help
