I only discovered after visiting another mechanic because my carb overflowed and he was checking the filter. It's been 7 months since i bought the bike, still under installment.

Is there anything I can do? Lodge a complaint with CASE or ath?

Was it secondhand? If firsthand, MUST have an airbox and filter as it is part of the original design.

If secondhand, some people remove the airbox which gives (in certain bikes) better throttle response and torque, at the expense of engine life. Must have forgot to put it back when selling :p

To remedy this, either get original airbox (safe bet but $$$) or convert to cone air filter/short ram intake (attempt to retain performance benefits at own risk).

Carb should not overflow when running without airbox, as more air / less restriction to intake flow = lean mixture. Unless settings were overcompensated or bike had toppled?

whoa. i've no idea. the carb just started overflowing with petrol the moment i turned the pet co ck one morning. Yeah it's a second hand bike.

My grouse is now my bike has no power in gear 1 when moving off unless i give it quite some throttle. I keep stalling. This comes after my mechanic replaced some part in my carburettor.

But anyway, cg125 airbox is pretty hard to find. >.

you should act blur and sell it to another newbie fellow like you

after that, then he can start another thread like this

:D

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

Wa lao what is happening to the bike? Bike should run without airbox, infact with right tuning can be made to run much better without the box.

I think something is wrong with the carb as well, if it can't control it's own fuel level with the engine is off! Previous owner probably DIY modded without a clue as to how the machine worked hence running with no air cleaner.

The suggestion to sell and get a properly more powerful bike is tempting... Unless you really like the CG125.

check float height. service carb and add cone filter. shld cost u less than 50bucks. no 50 bucks? ride bicycle.

LOL @ bicycle! There are a lot of bicycles more expensive than good bikes. Sometimes, even more expensive than big, good bikes!

Back to original question, you can try to talk nicely to the bike shop and see if they are willing to give you some form of compensation. However they are not obliged to do so. Mainly your bike had been bought for 7 months. They can say you may have taken it out during your ownership. Beside when you pushed out the bike from the shop, you had accepted the bike in whatever state it was in. I think the shop had gave you a warranty period for you to go back to them as well.

I think just talk nicely to them and see how. Otherwise just go buy a airbox and get over it.

yeah the problem is that parts for the old cg125 are pretty hard to find. I'll try hee motors for a start.

who checks the bike for filter when they buy it? I mean you'd assume it's already inside right. Or EO for that matter. piston already jammed cos they didn't top up EO for me when they sold it. K I'll quit whining but that motor diam really is a b*tch. I really wouldn't recommend anyone to buy from there.

What is the name of the shop?

Anyway, i don't really think its the shop fault. They buy, see whether can run, and then sell. They don't really open it up until something is wrong.

Just a case of your luck. I got my YBR sold to me without a fuel filter and realised that it didnt have one until about a year later. But i think its not my shop's fault as it still ran fine and there were no apparent probelms with it.

but ANYWAY i should go back to the bike shop that sold it to me and demand some form of compensation or fixing of the problem right

like what Kinwei has said, try to talk to them nicely. Since it's already been 7 months, they're are not obliged to give you an airbox for free. Imagine you were to trade in a bike to the bike shop, then the bike shop strip your whole bike, see if the bike is in 'perfect' condition. Would you really want that? It's too much of a hassle for both sides right? If they don't want to give you then suck thumb lor. The one month warranty they gave you is for you to really 'utilise' the bike and see if there are any problems with it..

basic rule of thumb having bought a second hand bike. change EO, spark plug and air filter, even if the bike shop says they've already done so.

Bike should and will run without airbox.

Problem occurred only after 7 months and not immediately or shortly after purchase.

Logical conclusion ought to be due to wear and tear, improper maintenance, damage to carb.

That's what I deduced after reading your post. I could be missing something.

Logically there should be no case as anything can happen in 7 months. It's a "he say she say" conclusion.
