Last consideration:

While our group's discipline and maturity has won us public approval many a time there is something which we cannot entirely control, because we own and enjoy several 'experimental' type vehicles, mine included.

That which we cannot control is the bane of aircraft pilots - systems failure.

I propose we design a procedure to deal with technical issues, including flat tyres and broken down engines.

Some issues we can conduct basic field repairs so long as the fighter escort of the day has experience with the issue at hand, others will require calling for technical assistance.

Here are some of my recommendations:

1. There should be a designated "alert team" to escort the damaged vehicle to safety, leaving the convoy to proceed on its route.

2. The alert team members should be proficient in automotive engineering concepts, can instinctively diagnose vehicle issues, or plainly just has a huge list of tow truck and emergency numbers on hand. Do not attempt major component disassembly or repairs on the roadside unless the problem can be surgically and rapidly fixed.

3. As far as possible, do not attempt to contact members of Black Swan who are not riding on that day. No one likes being woken at 3am to deal with accidents, broken down motorcycles, etc especially on a working week. The risk of bringing an experimental or fresh-from-shop motorcycle to a long range / high speed convoy route is fully borne by the vehicle owner. Unless of course the bike in question has everyone's name on the ownership papers :3

4. The convoy main body is not obliged to stop in the event of a breakdown, since there shall be an attendant alert team to escort the damaged vehicle to safety and transport the rider to the next rally point if necessary. Stopping a large convoy means crucial momentum permanently lost, and I have personally witnessed people stopping large convoys for minor issues right in the middle of busy traffic junctions... a big no no in our operations as far as I'm concerned.

We're not just bikers, we're Force Recon operatives. We do think of the world around us as well :3

Finally, while I'd like to say most will go ????? at the incredible chimilogy we deal with on a daily basis, just keep in mind the concept of a successful wet weather plan.

The best way to deal with rain is to use all available resources to correctly predict rainfall and weather patterns, so as to ensure there is no possibility of rain in the first place.

Apply the same strategy for vehicle breakdowns :)[/QUO

for technical assistance most 2B bike still can'AND just bikers wat u want they to do ,not in Force Recon operatives. ""maybe"" i can help too

Today's crew are all 'special ops' trained or at least know our convoy operating procedures from more than a weeks' worth of exchanging essays and opinions on team riding.

Therefore it will not be prudent, safety-wise, to continue to increase the convoy size without first conducting real-world trials on the above ideas.

Register for events early to avoid disappointment. Priority will always be given to regular guest stars, team players and the open minded.

Event concluded with no safety incidents despite 100% "freeplay" and huge convoy self-led by volunteers.

Big thanks for @liquidnoise for the Big GS :3

And spyder@sg / @gutripper / @palzzz / Eddy combined convoy leadership team! Community power!

Next week - BIG NATIONAL DAY CONVOY on either 8 Aug or 5 Aug, you all pick and let me know.

From Need for Speed style autocross, drag strips to urban recon, this HUGE convoy route will cover all the interesting roads in SG in one big round of petrol burning. If we are lucky we will also have a big yellow exotic race bike to test.

PS: We will not be fazed by "7th month" superstitions and will conduct patrols of "ulu" places as well. Since I'm a witch, I can't be bothered with superstition. Besides, for non-practictioners of witchcraft and wizardry, we have a whole arsenal of "laser cannon" to battle the undead with along with other roadgoing kopitiam ordnance. LOL.

... and that's why I'm putting the Battlestar in front this month. Quad lasers ftw!

A trio of enormous videos of last Saturday's riding will be uploaded over the whole of tonight and tomorrow. HD video processing is not for the faint of heart! Minimum Core i5 processor and decent GPU required. Put in huge upload bandwidth and large quantites of electricity (preferably using someone elses' utility account) and mix well. Leave overnight to cool & serve for breakfast (Part I - Seletar to Kranji 0600h), lunch (1300h - Hell's Highway & kitten special stage time attack) and dinner (1900h - Tuas Special Ops) tomorrow.

Fun? Got more video coming up tonight.

Producer's note:

This convoy was "community led", i.e, the majority of participants did extensive discussion on motorcycle team tactics on Facebook one week before the event.

The first stage planned to commence at 2200hrs sharp and arrive at Kranji MRT Station to conduct a rolling rendezvous with the second wave at 2245. We arrived at exactly 2245, just for the record :3

Proof that you don't need experience to lead a convoy successfully. Professionalism, unity and full support from the team can and will provide instant "experience" for anyone in the leader's role - making our rides not just enjoyable but educational as well. Sure, it will not look picture perfect, but we're arguably the only convoy able to smoothly coordinate with traffic by switching tactics dynamically.

Ths adaptability of "platoon based" riding will come in handy next week, where we will need to compete with many other car and motorcycle outing groups for open road space on 5 or 8 Aug.

Hopefully, @sghondarebel can bring in his second vintage bike for us to film then :3
