Recently, my front wheel bearing broke again … within 1 year and I don’t ride my bike often. This led me to do some research.

The bearings that the bike shop usually change are metal cover type bearings which in my case is the 6004ZZ_KOYO

The problem with “metal cover type bearings” are that water and particles still can go into the bearing through the slot.

The better bearing to go for are the “rubber sealed bearings” … 6004 2RS_SKF

The best bearing (in my research) is the “Duplex Universal Bearings” … 6004DU_NSK which is Honda OEM

Duplex Universal Bearings ... means "paired universal bearings"

Pls feel free to contribute your opinion and understanding on this issue :thumb:

bascially i mix up the idle screw and pilot screw when i did some tuning. the engine feel funny with choking exhaust smoke and burning petrol fast. travel about 30km for servicing. changed the spark plug and it was badly fouled. the mechanic suspected the air filter was dirty.

travel another 70km before i realise where the problem is. during the trip, petrol is burning up fast. also the exhaust smoke is slightly black and have a strong smell most likely due to incomplete combusion.

done a proper tuning upon discovered the error. may i know will i cause some serious damage to the bike? i guess the sprak plug will have been badly fouled again. will have it change.

any advice on what to do? a million thanks.

it seems to me that your bike's piston/ piston ring could be badly worned/ scratched to the point that engine oil can seep into the combustion chamber and contributing to the engine's loss of power.

It could be the HDEO that you used is not sufficient to "cool" the engine enuf; thus causing the excessive wear in the moving components in the engine.

Are you riding a Phantom 200 ?

How was your ride before you adjusted the idle/pilot screws? If it was fine, then, I suspect it could be something minor ...

it could just do with a tune-up ...

What bike do u ride? If its not a complicated bike, a friend had success with Lee Huat @ Upper Bk Timah, just opposite the Linear Condo. Give them a shot.

i am riding spark 135.

everything was fine before i make the wrong adjustment of the pilot screw by making it too rich. The only problem with too rich is excess carbon and possible stripping of engine oil in the cylinder due to excess fuel so i guess it should be fine. Just need to change out the spark plugg.

I am riding spark 135. The piston ring is fine. The problem is due to air/fuel ratio being set too rich when i got confuse over the 2 screw:p

as for HDEO, it is use in application that is much demanding for bike in term of temperature/high rpm/shear/pressure. so i dont see any result why "cooling" will be a problem.

anyway things appear to be fine. adjusted my bike to slightly leaner than stock(from 1 5/8 turn to 1 3/4 turn) took out the spark plug after running tis setup for 30km and it look fine. Only the edge is fouled while the tips look clean. Most likely the carbon was burned. I added some MMO to petrol which might help with the cleaning too. Cheers.

to each it's own ... and i have experienced almost immediately "excessive heat" when i experimented with "Engine Oil that is developed for Diesel Engine".

That "excessive heat" was gone ... after i changed back to my usual EO for motorbike.

Are you still using "Diesel Engine Oil" in yr bike ?

my ride is a CB which could mean "Cool Bike" ... so my bike loves to be cool :)

Good to hear that your bike is now ok
