Oh OK.. I have a single seater cover also.. super mint!! PM me if you are interested :cheeky: its collecting dust since CNY...

Well my '03 VFR never had any rectifier problems till almost 60k mileage. But iI usually bring along 3 things on every trip more than 300km away from SG.

1. clutch lever

2. brake lever

3. rectifier

I realised these are stuffs that are small light and super useful in a crash/malfunction. Easily replacable with simple tools and continue riding.

I always bring along a spare rectifier/clutch cable when I go fo trips, never did it cross my mind to bring brake/clutch level.. come to think about it, I think I should bring that along in future too..

Well neither do i bring along until fren minor buang, lever snap at the head (near the bolt), cannot ride at all. Well we always learn something new each day.

But now i wanna bring them also no space. The R6 rear compartment can't even put a proper rain-coat :sian:

By the way, VFR uses hydraulic clutch right? You modified yours to cable type?

Thank You.

Yes, our VFR panniers (& the Blackbird) is made by givi. But I wonder why is they made the hinges of the VFR panniers so flimsy. Unlike of Givi ... :dozed:

I bght my from Mah back in 2003. Took abt 3 weeks. But remember to ask if they include GST. I bght when they told me 1.8k. ?I paid almost 1.9k...

But never thelss.. AMPLE space.. full face helmet (including flip-ups.. NO PROBLEMO!)

Thank You.

:sorry: the clutch cable I refer to is my old ride, CB400... :cheeky: it's been only 1 wk+ but I already missed my ex-ride... :giddy:

I guess all bike with under seat exhaust comes with miserable under seat storage due to its configuration... :faint:

Yes... that's mine. Didn't notice your bike... have to open my eyes bigger... o_O

:deal:

Mah Motor had took over the GIVI agency from Chiap Lee.

And I heard that the new V35 would be hiting our market in later part of the year.

Price would be close to $1k for both the panniers and side racks.(yet to confirm)

Can't wait to see it.:hungry:

Hy AR2. The moderator is Speedy81, but he's gone to HK for the last 3 years and have been AWOL from the scene for a while. Andy (Administrator) proposed (in year 2004) to let Koma take over as moderator but there was no confirmation. Since then the VFR group has been rudderless and traffic has gone to near zero while we thred here.

REquest to Andy (Administrator) - could you open up the VFR Group to all, Thx.

I think Koma is no longer riding a VFR.

Why not let vfrt be the moderator, since he's the most qualified and one of the most senior among us?

You already know my answer keke.

Anyway, not sure what u mean by piston synchro; I think you mean throttle synchro as oppose to carb synchro for carbed bikes. For throttle synchro, 80K is a reasonable mileage. Jus be sure not to do a "major piston" job.

As for me, the old adage stands - but in this case, as its a non invasive maintenance work, I DIY it. What you want is to ensure that all four butterfly in the throttle body opens at the same time. As the throttle body are installed on the same rack, it is unlikely that it would go out of whack. In anycase, its easy to see for yourself. Here's how

No need to start engine.

1. Lift off petrol tank and support it. No need to remove it.

2. Remove filter air box and filter.

3. Peer into all four intake of the throttle (ensure enough lighting).

4. Gently roll the throttle open.

5. You want to see all four butterfly valve opening at the same time. If you have problem seeing all four, place a wooden chopsticks into each of the 4 intakes and then gently open the throttle. If the chopsticks moves at the same time, yr throttles are synched.

6. Put everything back in and go for your ride.

7 IF 5 above is otherwise, you may want to send it for synching or DIY it yourself - which is a separate DIY story.

That's it.

Anyone knows where is a good place to change brake pads for VFR ?

its my first virgin brake pad change for my bikey >.

was looking at CM55 by Braking though hrm...

Actually most shops can change easily as its a simple job. However, if you must, u can be sure of a good job at Mah (Jn Besar), Looi's or Motorworld. They stock good parts and are reliable and reasonably priced.

Brake changing is a very simple process. You could save a few $ by DIY, LAB sell Ferodo Platinum at $22 a set (when I last bght). Brakings good. I use EBC HH on my front - which I find is hard on the rotor; and Ferodo Platinum on my rear, although I've use Ferodo also on my front with good result previously - ie less rotor wear.

Yes, there's a old VFR somewhere in Block 135 - 149, used to see it zoom pass along West Ave 6.

last few weeks, I spotted one red Vtec along East ave 6, opp Autobacs, rider seeking shether from heavy rain at the bus bay.

What rpm do you use clutchless UP-shifting?

Its OK , in fact it places less strain on your clutch when UP-shifting - IF done correctly. I do it all the time from 3rd gear up, altho 2nd is also possible but I like to play it safer. However, clutchless down-shifting CANNOT be done. Search the net for tips on how its done.

Slipper clutch is a back-torque management device that sort out down shifting to match the engine speed with the tyre speed so that the rear end does not fish tail. Its great for sloppy down-shifting or block down shift at a hurried pace.
