There is no difference b/w the '02~'05 models other than the colors and the change from decals to a badge.

I am supposed to be the new lucky owner. I am new to this site and it would be great to get to know some fellow VFR riders here and meet ups would be great too. I am quite novice. I have ridden a super four vtec for the past 5.5 year and really enjoyed the convenience of that bike. Damn reliable and easy to maintain. This VFR will be a different ball game. One one hand you get a nr1 'crotch rocket' but then it needs some serious maintainance as well by the right ppl. So maybe some ppl here can give me some pointers.

As for me, I am Rick, a Dutch national living in s'pore for the past 7 year. I am 31 years now (so cheap insurance). Been riding also 7 year. Started with 2b on some scooter and now ready for the real stuff.

Oh, if you know anyone who want to buy blue 99 s4 vtec let me know ya :)

OK, looking forward for my first VFR ride tommorow :)

Cheers!

Rick

Hi rick...

Welcome to the Singapore VFR Group. A place of frenly and shaing riders. I think Koma will get you permission to enter the Official forum thread because it is still currently not open to other forumers.

The VFR is one of a kind, ride the bike tomorrow and you'll be delighted with it after a queer frown on the face on the first ride. (thats what i got though :p)

The mechanics that the guys visit are mostly reputable with good worksmanship. For me, I dunt like others to touch my girl, hence all DIY (which ends up with either great satisfaction or just plain cursing n swearing hahaha...). I am most happy to help out in common servicing areas when you are in doubt.

i am also trying to start a VFR page so as to enable new comers to DIY if they can!!

Meanwhile... Looking forward to meet yah...

Thumbs of for taking over Koma's bike... its a well maintained stallion!

Ride hard & safe...

Make sure you check the bike carefully for leaks when you take over tomorrow... :cheeky:

VTEC fuelling problem (potentially) resolved

The o2 sensors ( - on some (but not all) VTECs) may have been screwed into the WRONG HOLES in the exhaust at the factory so each o2 sensor has been sending back information on the wrong pair of cylinders in relation to the injection system.

The o2 sensor with the black socket should have been screwed into the TOP exhaust hole, NOT the bottom one. (And vice versa for the sensor with the white socket.)

The wiring, should be as follows:

The exhaust's BOTTOM o2 sensor (irrespective of its socket-colour) should connect up to the WHITE connector on the main loom, & the TOP o2 sensor should connect up to the main loom's BLACK connector. Other than the colours of the sockets, the o2 sensors are indentical, so swapping the connectors is a sufficient fix ( - i.e. the o2 sensors don't physically need to be swapped around in the exhaust itself.)

IF your o2 sensors have been fitted to their correct exhaust holes, the connectors will obviously be black-to-black & white-to-white, but to be on the safe side, double-check your connections using the system in the paragraph above, & your bike should, hopefully, be running fine.

Guys, better check yours, I will be checking mine this weekend.

Hopefully it can solve my jerky throttle and violent VTEC transition without needing the O2 eliminators and PC.

The Post:

January 14, 2005

"American Honda is conducting a SAFETY RECALL on affected models per the VIN

ranges listed on attached table. The recall will inspect the Proportioning

Control Valve (PCV) on vehicles equipped with linked or anti-lock brakes. In

limited circumstances, the existing proportioning valve could develop a leak.

Over time, the leak could result in a total loss of fluid from the rear brake

system. If the motorcycle continues to be used after a leak occurs the rear

brake would eventually become inoperative. In worst case, the loss of rear brake

force may cause a crash."

"The instructions and procedures necessary to repair the affected motorcycles

will be available the week of January 24th... Parts required to perform these

repairs if a leak is found will be available later that same week."

"American Honda will mail a notice of this Recall to owners of all affected

motorcycles."

This affects certain VINs of 2002-2004 GL1800/A's, 2002-2003 CBR1100XX,

2002-2004 VFR800/A's, and 2003-2004 ST1300/A's.

Keep an eye on your rear brake reservoir. :sian:

Hi Hamster,

I got my first VFR experience and I must say it was quite exciting. Beginning is a bit unusual cos of the diff riding posture but after a bit you get used to it and it actually feels good. The engine is is super solid state thanks to martin ( and I guess alex the mech) . Now I got to get busy reading the VFR bible that Martin gave me. That should keep my evenings busy but not sure if I can cos I rather cruise at nights. Hope I can keep the speedo down a bit cos this baby is fast... Better save some money for future speeding fines :) luckely so far no points yet.

Yeah, would love to meet you and other VFR ppl to talk bike stuff and other rubbish. Maybe next weekend (this weekend am cruising :)).

hahha~~~!! u all veri di siao leh :p glad that u enjoy the bike

rick, juz take note in btwn 3000-4000rpm theres a flat spot so

the throttle gets abit twitchy tats a characteristic of tis bike juz keep

it above 4000rpm n it will be fine. forgot to tell u fuel comsumption ydae

normal sg riding bout 260-300km(depends whether u travel in town alot

or not). Once reserve light starts blinking, u confirm will still have 50km of

fuel left provided u travel round 100km/h. But best is not 2 let the reserve blink

bfore toppin up fuel cause in tat way u r stressing the fuel pump.

hope tis helps ;)
