Hi everyone..

I'm thinking of of changing the timing chain as well as doing valve clearance.. And also things like brake, clutch fluid change, coolant change.

Current mileage is 65k.. Thinking of doing it when it hits 80k..

But the bike is rather rare so I'm scouting around to see where you guys go for servicing..

Thanks for any replies..

I am at 46,000+km now

timing chain = Still fine haven't do

valve clearance = still fine haven't do

But Looi's motor at ubi, and Stanford at AMK does them pretty well from what I heard.

brake, clutch fluid change, coolant change.

All can DIY. All you need is :-

1. brake/clutch fluid change--> size 8 spanner, bottle, fishing tube (it will be great to have a helper for the front brakes.)

2. coolant change---> distill water about 3l ius more than enough, coolant, size 8 or 10 spanner, running water, a drain.

Ride hard & safe...

yesh H7 will fit all four headlights sockets. VFR can only use H7 bulbs

Hi Hamz

Clarification. VFR VTEC 02 onwards uses H7 (2 pin). VFR800FI 98~01 uses H4 (3 pin)

Oo thanks.. Will keep in mind these shops..

But I tot the brake lines need to use a vaccum tool to suck the fluid out.. Especially the secondary lines from from left caliper to rear brake middle piston.. Cos from my understanding that line is only activated through the bike's motion together with the brake lever..

Although a "vacuum tool" such as auto bleeder or a big syringe ( i use this) makes bleeding or fluid change easier, it is by no means necessary. The most basic and trusted way is still to use the pump lever and lock/unlock drain nipple procedure altho it will need 2 pax to work it.

Either way, the link braked system in the VFR requires a specific sequence for bleeding and this is quite a mouthful to explain here. The shop manual or Haynes manual explains it best. see here for how to http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.p...c=277&hl=brakes.

Thanks for the reply..

I saw this thread before.. But I'm worried it will not be as easy as it sounds once I start on it.. Dun wanna end up calling for tow to the service shop..

Well maybe I'm the kind you'lll call a mechanical idiot..

Nontheless its great info.. Maybe I'll do give it a try.. At most call for a tow when everything gets messy.. :cheeky:

Bid for a 98-01 model manual here - http://auctions.yahoo.com/sg/auction/89111435. Might try asking the seller if he's got a vtec ver if thats what u want. A photo copy one would cost more as its very thk.

I have a copy of it in CD format (thanks to none) & hard copy. Drop me a ring if you are interested.

Just pass me a CD if you want the soft version, or you can take my hard copy to photo stat if you want the hard version
