Found out some information on the net about 2007 habanos.

Just wanna share with you guys and what do you guys think about it?

• One of the most eagerly-awaited 2007 releases from Habanos, S.A. is the third line of Cohiba, adding to the Classic and Siglo blends.

> The new line will be called the Cohiba Maduro, featuring wrapper leaves of at least two years old.

> Three short sizes will be offered to start, to be introduced at the ninth Festival del Habano in late February, all of which will have a pigtail head: a fat robusto of 5 1/2 inches by 52 ring; a short robusto of 4 1/2 inches and 52 ring and a petit corona of 4 1/3 inches and 40 ring.

• What about the Edicion Limitada line for 2007?

> Hoyo de Monterrey Regalos (5 3/4 x 46), in slide-lid wood boxes of 25.

> Romeo y Julieta Escudos (5 1/2 x 50), in wood boxes of 25.

> Trinidad Ingenio (6 1/2 x 42), in varnished boxes of 12.

• The extra-aged Reserva line will be continued in 2007 with a special edition of the Montecristo No. 4 (5 1/8 x 42) in boxes of 20.

• There will also be more Havana cigars in colorful tubes. In addition to the Cohiba Siglo II-III-IV-VI and some shapes of Romeo y Julieta, the H. Upmann Magnum and new Montecristo Petit Edmundo will get the tube treatment.

• Habanos is planning to prune its lines of less-popular shapes. The Journal reported that 44 cigars are slated to be discontinued, including the Diplomaticos No. 1 (6 1/2 x 42) and No. 3 (5 1/2 x 42), El Rey del Mundo Tainos (7 x 47), Partagas de Partagas No. 1 (6 5/8 x 43) and the Sancho Panza Sancho (9 1/4 x 47).

• Three collector’s items available now or in the near future:

> H. Upmann “Antiguo Humidor,” previously announced and reproducing an old-style box, holds 50 cigars of 6 5/8 inches and 49 ring. A total of 200 were made.

> A Montecristo leather-covered portable humidor holding 10 Edmundos (5 x 52).

> A new Coleccion Habanos “book-style” humidor holding 20 Trinidad cigars of 6 inches and 52 ring. Only 500 of these items were made and are generally available only at Casa del Habano shops worldwide.

I am very excited about the cohiba maduro line, edicion limitada, and wondering which cigar will get discontinued? Hope to get some of the soon to be discontinued before it's long gone.

Habanos becoming more and more commercialised by the day, so much for "socialism or death" fidel !

Seems like it's socialism spelt with a big Capital "C" hahaahha

I quite like the el rey Tainos, would be sad to see it go. But it's not irreplaceable. as for the sancho sancho, I've never smoked through one as it's too slim and long. The diplomaticos, I still have 2 boxes of aged piramides. not keen on the other vitolas.

I'll be keen on the Hoyo Epi1 EL (regalos) and the RyJ Robusto EL (escudos) Probably buy to age.

I got some cigar matchsticks from Davidoff. They are made of cedar wood and sold for CHF4 a box back in 2001.

I usually get my cigar matches from shops overseas selling cigars.

Seems like since the departure of Acanta (Bluebells branch) local cigar shops dont give/sell cigar matches anymore.

I can pass you a box from the Regent Jkt when we meet.

Otherwise, purists also prefer lighting up using "spill" or cedar wood strips from the box itself.

I have quite a lot of those and only use them in the comfort of my own balcony.

another trick while using matches is to light 2 at the same time and to puff on your cigar while rolling it for an even burn. With a good drawing cigar, it lights as quickly or even faster than using a jet flame.

RyJ or Romeo y Julieta (pronounced as Ro mee o eee Hoo Lee etta)

is one of the oldest and most complete cigar brands from Cuba

It is established in 1875 and most famous becos Winston Churchill smoked the Julieta from RyJ, which was renamed a Churchill in his honor.

The RyJ range is very complete and has many different vitolas including Edicion Limitadas as early as 2000. Yes, it is a good brand of Cuban cigars. But depending on which vitola you smoke, the quality differs accordingly.

Friday, there is a Triumph Bike gathering at 8pm.

So I should be fine after 9pm. Only thing is my swollen gum due to the tooth extraction.

For the benefit of everyone, here is a compilation of popular cigar brands and their original spanish pronounciation.

Commonly pronounced by the general non cigar-smoking community in English, I personally feel it doesnt seem right. Just like when you pronounce a luxury brand name in its original language, cigars names should be pronounced in their original language - Spanish.

So here goes :-

Cohiba - Ko ee ba (silent "h")

H Upmann - A Che oop mun

Punch - Poonch

Juan Lopez - Huan Lo pehz

Romeo y Julieta - Ro mee o eee Hoo Lee etta

Ramon Allones - Ra Mon Ah yo nes (double L = y)

El Rey del Mundo - El Rey Del Moon doh

The rest are basically the same as in English.

Cheers
