i didnt know cohiba was pronounced ko ee ba. shd have posted this a LONG time ago, back when i first started. hahaha...

 

anyway greg, i think by good u mean in terms of taste and aroma of the cigar? personally, even if the cigar is supposed to be the best, top notch, 70 bucks a pop cigar, it wont mean a thing if u dun like the taste profile. it all boils down to personal preference.

 

i guess after readin up on this thread and smokin more cigars, u'll eventually learn to appreciate the subtle differences in the various different brands.

hey throttle, i seriously think u shouldnt be smokin if ur gum is still swollen. it might get inflamed. even if it doesnt, im sure it hurt quite a bit when u draw in the hot smoke.

Oh yes Cohiba is pronounced with a silent "H" and so is Habana (Ah Bah Nah)

Anyway, I forgot that it was 18th jan today and missed the TRiumph bikes meetup just now. Kept thinking that today is 17th, damn. WTF.

But "choice" is definitely not correct. hee hee

 

As far as I know, The El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme is named as such for a marketing reason. Choix is actually French and not spanish.

 

The meaning is of course the supreme choice.

 

Choix is rightfully pronounced as Schu - waah

Just like the french fashion house Lacroix is pronounced La-Ku-waah as not La-Kro-iks.

seriously dudes this thread has to have somekinda language lesson as well..it sorta open doors to at least TELLING ppl about what cigars you have tried...can't imagine if you pronounce all word-for-word.....thats embarassing.

 

of course in the beginning will encounter some difficulties...but hey, practise makes perfect!

im already "in it" HAHA juz that not a frequent smoker. maybe once a month or bi-monthly...

Thats an excellent way of looking at it.

 

Although one single cigar = 3 packs of cigarettes (cost -wise), the joy, appreciation, dreams and sight that one can draw from it, is eternal....

Yes, do join us whenever possible, but why wont be smoking?

 

The neighborhood is made up generous people, a spare cigar is always available.

 

(not to say that you cant afford your own but to say that if you go without one , you will certainly be given one)

And if you intend to smoke a cigar, make sure that one of the puffs will always be with someone to guide you along so that you know what in God's name you're smoking, else, you're just gonna puff away the beauty as well.

Certainly dare not say i'm the best man, becos many folks here are knowledgeable cigar smokers in their own rights too.

 

Anyway, i'm watching an Andy Lau/Sammi cheng movie "Yesterday once more" on 8 now. Quite a few scenes of cigar smoking.

Noticed one scene where Sammi Cheng was smoking a cigar with her friends at the Red Chamber. Which is the HK equivalent of Con Divan. Both joints are under Pacific Cigars, the agent for Habanos in this part of the world. Brings back memories of smoking there last year.
