It's good to read up the recruit page and source for opportunities.

Sometimes we can't head straight out there, as companies normally offers offshore opportunities to experienced personnels & talents or rather.

Try to take one step at a time, and grab opportunities if you come by one.

Good luck.

As for myself, I also wish i can have the opportunity later one, still a greenhorn in the refinery world.

hi guys, this is an interesting thread

i never knew that there were a good number of people interested in working offshore in Singapore

there are not too many and of those that are working offshore the majority are service hands, i.e. working for a company providing a specific service

like what some of you mentioned here already, ROV, NDT, BOP servicing, even engineering for construction etc

it's not that it is a tough job, it is more a case of it being very long and a little more physical than what most Singaporeans are used to.

it's not that easy to get in as we hardly have any rigs working here doing drilling in singapore, so one way is that if any of you are working in the yards doing construction or refurbishments of the rigs, you could try asking them if there are any vacancies.

here are some options you can try looking out

I've done this for the last 8 years, first 6 was as a service hand and now with drilling side as a rig safety training coordinator

clap clap... I been doing Offshore recruitment for going 3years...

A Rig Manager's salary? - USD16k per month, paid both on/off, doing 28 rotation.

Those keen in going offshore.

Basically you would need to get the basic offshore certificates.

Try Alert in Singapore if ya lazy to go Pasir Gudang. But be prepared to pay... it ain't cheap.

Hai Ah_Ben,

From the descriptions, can I assume are U a job recruitment officer in the Offshore area? Beside working offshore, do U have any opportunities in doing engineering/design for offshore project?

Currently, I am seeking for further opportunities in the Upstream Oil/Gas industry. I am not a sea man or any crew on board. But I am just a little engineer working in Keppel who mostly doin enigneering design work for FPSO, drilling ship type of project. I would like to hone myself specifically in any onshore engineering job which involve in all upstream oil/gas area. Would be very interested to join Classification, Ship/Rig Owner firm, consultancy firm. Any recommendation for me? Or any advise on how I can move myself up in my career in the offshore industry? Nowadays, I seems that "sub sea" operation are very popular.

Ah Ben, can I have ur contact so as I can learn more from your professional experience?

Hi, I'm from Singapore and I'm in my early 20's. I don't mind being an unskilled labour and starting from scratch. I've been wanting to work on an offshore oilrig job ever since I've heard my friends talk about it.

How can I go about it and are there any education requirements for an entry level position, so I can start planning on securing my entry?

I've pm-ed some of you guys, now I'm just hoping that anyone that comes across this thread can give me any kind of help, thanks..

well, RM is paid that kinda amt for a reason:

the paramount safety of 100+ guys on the rig is no joke,

and such is the responsible that one has to bear.

anw, another cheaper (?) and more fun place to do BOSIET is Miri, Sarawak.

=)

theres 2 safety centers to choose from.

cant say much about Alert, as i didnt do mine there.

but, i did do my IWCF @Alert, since they are the only one in Sgp.

All i can say, they are def not cheap.
