The inspection uncle wanted to fail me, he said because "multi tone horns are meant for cars, cannot put on motorbike". Is this really not true? Never heard of such things previously. He almost wanted to fail me, but give me a CP instead, which to my understanding was a warning to have my hella horns removed/replaced within 7 days.

there ain't any specification that say multi-tones are applicable for car usage only. especially the generic upgrades that enhances your safety.

unless i'm wrong somewhere, but i don't see why it shouldn't be passed. try going to another inspection center?

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

You tio smacked. He gave you a CP cause he didn't even know whether the horns can be used or not.

I think there are 3 types of horns on the market now.

The first is the "stock" button horn which is round.

The next are the powered two-tone "snail" horns like Stebel Magnum. These are legal, or at least I've passed inspection with them. No issues there.

The last cateogry is the proper airhorn. This is a horn with 2 components - the horn itself, and a storage tank of compressed air. These are illegal in Singapore.

Original in almost all bikes and most of the non-continental cars are known as Disc horn.

And because of cost saving, most of them are "just meet" requirement quality. Meaning got sound is ok.

ON the safety aspect. They Sarks

Twin-Tone electronic Snail horn.

Used in many stock horns for continental cars like BMW, Merc, Audi

In SG, bike is in disadvantage because the once every 50yrs flood became a once rain flood phenomenon.

Except for disc horn that is splash proof and more robust against water ingress,

Rest are "water touch me become donald duck" horn.

Real Air horn = Compress air horn used in Trailer and Truck and is using commpressed air to drive the horn.

Those are SOLID...but most often then not running on 24V.

Just asking can these 2 horns (dunno is it airhorn or not) be installed on bikes (etc Honda Wave)?

This is known as electropneumatic aka electric type compress air horn

Illegal and bright of course. For wave should not have much power to pump this fella. Typical 2B battery running 3-5Amh.

@ 2m is 115Db only. Bright sound but does not penetrate enough.

Can a Wave's battery support the air horn's operations?

This fella consumes 18A which is pretty high and too much for a class2B bike to take.

not true, so long an aftermarket product which is TUV or CE certified, is allowed on the roads LEGALLY.

Actually Local authority looks at ECE and JIS certification.

They will not endorse.

They will only let u pass thru inspection thats all.

so which horn is the loudest and approved to use on our bike in Singapore?

In our local & Msia context, due to weather and humidity and recently 50-yr-once-turn-every-time-rain-flood scenarios,

all but disc horn survives the situation. Only disc horn can take splash and momentary immersion.

You can read my CMO thread for more details.

Depending on bike models, size will be the factor to decide which horn model to choose
