Hi,

 

Anyone here would like to join me for a airsoft game in thailand? It will be host in thai military camp. Weapons will be provided by thai airsoft friends.

 

Period from 15th Feb to 19th Feb.

 

1st day - touch down (settle down in hotel and kia kia)

2nd day - airsoft event (jungle and FIBUA setup)

3rd day - thai commando open house (M16 shooting), after that dinner and kia kia

4th day - kia kia, check-out and return to SG

 

Anyone interested pls PM me.

 

P/s: the event is legalise in Thailand. All you need is to bring ur LBV or SBO + SAF uniforms.

Is commando same as commanders? erk. sorry im blur. coz i went for d briefing thing wen my bro got enlisted in tekong 2 days back. Then they were telling during his 9 week BMT, they gt commander selection aso.. so must perform well.. so is commander n commando d same?

I heard now no more 5km SOC during BST (izit still called this?) and no more 10km SOC for leaders course... True?

 

What does BST stands for?

Basic Skill Training?

My 2nd son kenna mono intake into 1ST GUARD three weeks ago, I heard it is one of the elite groups in the army,(siong also).

 

I hope it is.:cheeky:

 

Any ex-guards here.....:thumb:

hmm, we're talking about new age warfare now, no longer fight in the same method as they used to in WWII. comparing soldiers now to the soldiers in the past, i would say soldiers might not be as bulky as the past, but their mental endurance are much stronger than the people you talk about 10 years ago. fitness wise, it's still as good, (with ippt as gauge) >90% gold before ord. combat wise, just compare the weight they load up during missions (80s to present), the load is much heavier now, and moving further each mission. commando reconnaissance walk almost 40-60km each mission.

 

 

just to correct some facts:

- there's still 10km soc for leaders for the last bravo batch iirc. it depends largely on your oc whether it's required

- current 3rd and 4th coy usually fight the easiest missions as they are the most junior operational coy (jc batch)

- there are still 5km soc for certain vocations in cdo

 

 

72km is a must. And depending on oc, 72km route march typically includes 84mm and MG + organic weapons.

To me its more like infantry men but at a higher pay bah?

Training is definitely tough so long you're going through infantry base training.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

it's true. nowadays trainees getting weaker and more pampered but smarter. some even give attitute. the only reason they pass out is so that there will be sufficient people to fight atec. some instructors (in general) cant even pass ippt or soc(skip obstacles). Ever heard of magic bullet during range? Ranger cadres are so stubborn and outdated (knowledge wise). Brotherhood do not exist anymore with people backstabbing one another.

 

Even to scrap away the 10km soc? Times are definitely getting easier

 

But to be fair, I know of many good people but sadly they are in the minority.

 

hell you learn more in leaders than ranger.

 

u don't go to ranger cse to learn.. u go there to c wat u made of. ranger cse is not dere to train leaders.. dat's y d min rank is a 3sg. pls understand.

i got posted to HQ CDO as clerk but tml onwards going to pasir ris camp instead..

argh. i will miss the food in hendon.. =(
