Need to travel more to see if fc is stable and if it really did improve. Its a little hard banking the bike with my weight. Is it me or is it the bike. -_-"

To bank heavy bikes like the Phantom you need to use countersteering technique, which local riding schools forget to teach.

To turn right at high speeds (>30kph), pull on the left handle. Thats the way to carve very precise lines through Devil's bend with the 650cc BMW in front. While Phantom doesn't have power to compete, once you have the momentum it's up to you to retain it through the turn. Like tofu car in Initial D :3

The scientific principle is gyroscopic precession, which causes the wheel to turn the opposite side from steering forces - that's why you can observe me banking outside away from the turn then snap rolling into the corner. That may be called the bike version of a scandinavian flick (used in rallying) and the momentum generated by the maneuver counteracts the bike's inertia.

Another way to turn in fast is as I've illustrated at Planet and at Mcdonalds - brake and lean on the handlebars to transfer weight on the front wheel, improving turn in speed and precision, then stabilise by accelerating.

Or you can do it the hardcore arabian belly dancer way:

Use your backside/hips and step on the footpeg to force the bike to roll 45 degrees in a split second regardless of what the bike wants to do. This is more stressful to the bike frame and I managed to warp my Y125Z's frame doing this over a few years :p

Yeah i normally lean a little forward, if not even when i bend my body, the bike doesn't bank. Anyway i was thinking of changing to a road bike after i got sick of this bike(don't know when will that be). Because its easier to control compared to a cruiser, it might suit me better, comfort and decent speed with good FC. I was thinking about pulsar, what you think about it? But pulsar has a very low top speed right? Meaning its power is probably a lot less then phantom as well?

Lol you can give me your unwanted Phantom and I will have 2 CBX200Rs to touge with :D

You should try mine it handles a lot better than many much more expensive things on the road. Braking for corners is optional...

Pulsar - I rode with a lady rider once in convoy, also raced a few uphill near Kranji MRT station. Power is exactly the same as stock Phantom and so is the cargo capacity. Phantom likes to lose a lot of acceleration once you put a pillion on the back, due to the dinosaur suspension compressing too much changing the chain geometry.

Pulsar cargo capacity is better - it is designed to ferry your Bollywood wife on the back in side saddle on bad roads (yes I'm serious) = win.

The Pulsar's so-called enhanced dual spark system really doesn't give any benefits during typical street riding and thus the bike "feels like dying" at highway speeds. Mine doesn't. With a few more alterations the theoretical top speed is something like 140 like those Ah Pek Phantom Racers :3

To keep an open mind, not that Pulsars are bad, take a look at Yamaha R15 and FZ150i. Smaller cc does not mean lower performance and although I love Pulsars and Bajaj Avengers (Indian cruiser, more stylish than Phantom), I went for Japanese technology because maintenence is so much simpler and the Japanese bikes are just like AK47s - no matter how much you ill treat them nothing really bad happens.

I especially like the FZ150's high compression ratio. More performance, less fuel consumption. It looks like an Ah Pek bike... but I bet it's fast. (Btw, Spark, R15, FZ150 are all related - LC4V powerplant)

Lastly... erm, I have test ridden a Phantom with 5 year old tyres that was... impossible to turn. The basic design is actually quite agile and designed for city riding with that super-short gearing of ours.

Sadly our class 2B licensing doesn't allow us to fully enjoy the Pulsar range.

I want the P220!!!

Lol you can ride to Changi with us and sleep at the seaside. Bring tent or sleeping bag lol!

But do not ride if tired nya? Not worth the risk. Although since you're about the same age as me, still can tahan by sleeping more for the previous 2-3 days to overcharge the 'battery' LOL.

Thomas - no problem!

Just make sure to post your planning down as early as possible.

We have the catering plan and your early-morning sunrise ride to consider.

As usual, convoying rules don't apply. We have new and better techniques to get everyone on time on target safe. Initiative and democracy, people, not Victorian inflexibility!

Ps: Despite popular notion about our so called "racing" antics - we actually have the slowest bikes on the road. I mean, 125 cc V-twins, 200cc dinosaur-tech SOHC 2V, accelerator very power ahhhh Hahahaha!

Must keep nabil company in the morning. Otherwise later don't wake up how :D

Just put your name on the template (copy/paste) if you want to tag along. Permission wise you should do fine; we're convoy procedure trained (Phantom Knights 30+ bike convoy experience) , distance trained (900km in 8 hours - nabil) and usually discuss serious bike stuff. Educational :D

The Changi Picnic trip is not full day, we'll just have lunch at the beach, TCSS, move off to secret Top Gear bike test facility to review bikes and escort you back home in the afternoon.

After that nabil and I may get funny ideas such as stealing Dad's van and play formula 1 grocery carts at Mustafa centre :D
