hi guys.. many of us have tried to find the strongest performance parts or helmets or paddings, but little have considered how vital a super powerful brake can be.

recently i got into an accident and realize the injuries would obviously be better if my brakes were better..

so the question is what brand of brakes is strongest to you? and where in sg can u find it?

I presume you mean brake pads.

For me, the OEM Yamaha brake pads are good, but its very exp at $60 a pair or so(n need 2 pairs up front), I went for the normal ones at less than half the price. I cant feel the difference, frankly.

Other than the brake pads, do check that the brake fluid are not contaminated and the brake hoses have not hardened over the years, esp if you own a 2nd hand bike.

Nowadays, ABS is common on most >400 and above bikes, and this safety feature should be part of anyones considerations when buying a new bike. :)

If U mentioned Braking nt perfect then U gt into an accident. Then i would have 2 ask U 2 look at a bigger picture here Bro.

Brake Pads, Hose [braided :thumb:] & Fluids [try 2 flush every year] wif proper bleeding of course.

Dun 4get abt the Calipers, also have 2 service once in a while; depends on maintenance. If nt sumtimes it can jam over tymes.

U also have 2 look into Tyres as they also play a big part in helping U in E-Braking situation.

Wear & Tear [thread still avaliable anot] & dun 4get abt the Pressure as well. An Over/Under Pressured Tyre will also affect Ur Braking stance.

Lastly Bike's Handling also iz very Important, i personally noe a lot of Newbies tends 2 overlook tiz aspect. I'm refering 2 ur Forks & Suspension setup. Dun Neglect them as w/o a proper setup, wen U e-Brake the Bike can b damn hard 2 handle, & can also b the cause of accident in some cases...

There are aftermarket brake discs, calipers, brake pumps, brake hoses, and brake pads. The sky's the limit if money is no object. Brake setup also depends very much on the bike. You don't use twin 6-pot calipers on small bike, for instance. There can be too much brake, where the front will lock up with little provacation. Not safe in my opinion.

You did not specify your ride. For multi-cylinder bikes more than 600cc, the stock calipers (assuming Nissins or Tokicos) work just fine. Maybe replace the brake hoses with steel braided ones, and if feeling rich, upgrade the brake pump to Brembo/Braking/Magura/etc 18/19mm (or 19/20mm) items. Service the calipers, and use quality brake pads (EBC/Galfer/Braking). Usually these mods will result in 2 finger braking performance even under track conditions.

Even you have the strongest brake, you must have the forks that can take the beating and not flex under heavy braking. Chassis to contain the forks, you just cant put strong brake on a bike with weak forks and chassis, under heavy braking, your wheels will not run true and you have no control and etc....Yes suspension setting does help, too little compression might unsettle the forks and cause the tire to lock before you load the front tire....

i also agree ABS should be factored into bike purchases now. much more safer.

in any case, the best braking product also doesnt do sh!t if you ride recklessly.

so ride safe and be safe.
