VFR shaft recall.

Had replaced mine 2 wks ago.

The effect is good as the clink-clank-sound fr shaft had been greatly reduced at low speed.

For those who had also updated can share your experience if possible.

All Honda's : CV400, Magna 750, ST1300, VFR1200F, PCX150

Hi VFR people,

I am considering 2011 DCT VFR1200R. Given the age, I am worried if there are any potiential issues with the DCT? (Hearing a number of problem with VW DCT)

I have the intention to renew the COE and use it beyond 10 yrs.

Thanks in advance

Hi Chin Joon, I’m not familiar with the VFR1200R model. I ride a 2011 VFR1200FD (sport touring model).

The DCT has been a dream to use, both in town traffic and in the twisties in Malaysia. In terms of reliability, it has not failed. But my mileage is not high (coming to 75000 km for an 8 year old bike). So far, the only thing I needed to replace was the shift motor due to wear and tear. But I maintain it well, with proper servicing and oil change with good synthetic engine oil, and I replace the clutch filter every oil change.

Curious is anyone still following this thread.... I just picked up a 2011 VFR1200F DCT w/27k km. Looks a bit rough here and there, but runs amazing. Still learning the bike, but I am happy so far. As said, heavy, hot, small tank - but damn that DCT is cool! I have a scooter for the tight hawker centre parking anyway. Would love to find out more about the experiences of long-term owners/riders. Thanks

Welcome! This is a sweet bike. VFR 1200 are quite rare. We should organise a meet up once this COVId19 situation dies down.

What do you want to know about the bike? I have a 2011 DCT same like you.

Sorry for the belated response, took me a while to figure out the Forum log-in again.... I am keen to raise up the bars, lower the pegs, and by all means, reprogram/cheat the ECU to give full power in gears 1 &2, the last being the most important. It is FAST on the upper gears, too fast. I exceeded 200 km/hr a few times, I am know that's not wise around here :-(

Thanks
