Need some advice from PCX owners, is the battery 'died' problem happened very often? my friend's PCX almost need to change battery every 3~5 months and so many times nearly cannot start on the road when the idle-stop kicked in.

Also, is it normal for the started PCX to vibrate quite obviously? that friend's PCX after started and even warmed up, the handle bar and mirrors are dancing, kind of mahru when others looking at his PCX.

Lastly, what is the frequency/mileage for EO change and other maintenance, I read the web and found so many different version of schedule, some changed at 1000km interval, some 3000km and some 4000km??

Is all PCX sold in Singapore with 12 warranty from BS?

Thank for Bro/sis giving me any/all answers to the above in advance, I ask as I am thinking of sourcing for a second hand PCX (new one too exp) with reasonable price and condition. Mileage preferred to be 10,000km or lower, if you happened to thinking selling or know anybody is selling, please PM me.

Thanks all :thumb:

Hi deepblur,

my pcx has been running for 8000km since last jun, so far no issue with the battery thou. everything seems good. as for the vibration, i changed my rollers to dr pulley rollers, thus there is slight vibration when starting, but not to the extend of mirrors dancing. if mirror dancing, maybe your friend can consider checking on his mirror cos it may be not screw tight enough? i did my EO change every 2500km using mobil1 fully synthetic.

btw, mine was only 6mths warranty from BS.

cheers!!

Thanks bro, his mirrors are tight but the vibration is like the whole engine is dancing, I don't think Honda engine is so rough and which I suspect the cylinder head is damage or having problem, coz his never did a good break-in when his PCX was new.

For the battery, his favour is to use idle-stop, as he is stay near city, most of the time are start-stop-slow..ride, with the headlight on, I am wondering if this causing the battery to overwork or something wrong with his electrical system?

There pcx-ians that advise against using the idle stop function as battery may drained out faster. I've stop using idle stop when I realised that I doesn't save that much fuel.

Best is to get it checked out. Den maybe can advise the remaining pcx-ians as our community is pretty small. Hahaha

I checked with my friend who is running bike shop, as per his opinion (general opinion as he is not specialise in PCX), if the engine vibrates strongly is likely to be head overheated damage, either the valves are cooked or the piston and rings are burnt. My friend's bike is very new (less than 5 months) and not travel alot but he like to speed and quite likely during the bike was new, his way of breaking in (think this time really break it) was bad, battery also dead once (replaced) and recharged once. Maybe the electrical system also have some internal injury?

Anyway he is selling away his PCX, I was kind of interested initially but after careful think through, maybe this is not a good idea to takeover as the future maintenance will be a big problem o_O

Hi i work in city area too, using the idle-stop since day 1. Bike is 6 months old and so far battery and everything good. Journey to my office is 5km only. Vibration not much. another friend of mine riding his PCX for over a year change his battery after 13 months

According to your sharing, I am more than confirmed that my friend's PCX is in bad condition, either he got a lemon or he created the lemon, either way it seems something is really wrong with his PCX.

Just went to johor to do some stuff... Change tyres, change brake shoes, change transmission oil. All within RM230

Tyres: Changed both from Duro to Shinko (RM200) - not bad, quite grippy and definitely better than the duro...

Brake Shoes: Opened the rear wheel and found out what was causing that screeching sound... mechanic used air gun to clean up the housing (that's when all the brake dust started flying everywhere). Changed the worn out shoes... (28K mileage...) (RM25)

Transmission oil: (RM10)

Tried to ask for front brake pads as well but they don't carry PCX pads. No choice had to go to FJT to buy carbon ceramics for $15. cheap...

My friend finally given up his PCX and sold it to bikeshop for $4900 (less than 6 months old), big loss.

He brought his PCX to BS and checked, confirmed that the piston rings, cylinder and valves are burnt, due to never run-in properly and if to repair, the bill can be up to $2500 no guarantee the bike will be back to as good as new, the damage is not covered under warranty as it is user's act.

Sad ending for a good PCX, if any bro/sis show a very new PCX in shop, good chance is his and whether to buy or not is up to your own decision and risk.

Anyway, I am still looking for a good condition PCX, if any bro/sis have one to let go, let me know please.

Wow, bikeshop sometime can be so bad....! o_O

The PCX my friend sold to @$4900 is now asking for $6800 by the shop, they turned up the idle to very high to suppress the vibration and inexperience buyer will be fooled and get into big headache later. Without RPM meter, buying PCX must be very careful, when idle is very high bike looks ok, hiding all the problems.

BTW, I spoken to one famous bikeshop and the sales told me that the PCX 150cc version maybe coming in, but not confirm, the price for PCX125 has started to drop since the announcement of the upgraded 150cc PCX, for bro/sis who don't mind 125cc, it is about time to bargain for better price. :cheeky:

Changed to a 2000 RPM racing clutch ASSY yesterday.

No chance yet to test top speed this morning due to heavy traffic... shall see road conditions later.

But overall, my 60-80 km/h pickup has improved.

Just a reminder, if you change horn, remember to change the fuse to bigger AMP.

Bro, you should have a separate fuse for the air horn, coz the default fuse rating is also for other circuit components and up the rating will loss the protection. 10A is 120W and if it still blow, better check the rating of the horn.
