Anyone tried PGO Tigra 125i? 13 BHP and FC from 40km/l (city) to 60km/l (highway), the scooter is really solid and the display panel is wonderful, showing all the information and time, even diagno code.

Slightly below $7k without insurance, very low maintenance cost too, saw quite a few on the road, any feedback?

I think this is a good alternative to the overpriced PCX125.

Yeah you could pop by when we manage to organise a gathering. Seems like Pcx riders are a rare breed at the moment.

Fuel consumption looks on par with the PCX... Don't know if PGO parts are widely available.. and the after sales service. Maybe fellow PGO riders could comment. Would prefer to stick to honda at the moment for proven reliability and availibility of parts.

PGO parts. Is abundant. But only in the local agent. Hiap aik at macpherson. They are the one who brings in PGO.

Their initial bike shipments always consist of the bikes and enough spares to replace 2 bikes. Minus the frame and crank case (both have serial numbers thus must special order)

This initial shipments parts consist of all the non common replaca parts like fairings, brake pumps, crankshaft, blocks, piston and etc.

Of course common parts with other PGO model and have existing stock, they will not order more.

Subsequently, when this parts is low, they will order in.

If under Warranty and parts not available. PGO Taiwan will DHL in at no additional cost. This applies to new model first batch. Subsequent batch by then the parts will be in already.

part price is not expensive. usually cheaper than honda. At most is same price for some items.

parts and support is no complains.

Just a minor weakness is that U have to go Macpherson.

Maintenace is the same as any autoscooter. just cheaper than Italian make.

Actually spoken to few PGO users before, their comment is "cheap and good".

The only worry is Hiap Aik is small in size and no one know in long term what will happen? but anyway, even big agent can also just pack and go overnight nowadays.

The other issue on PGO is very poor resale value, 1 year old bike can loss up to 50%. For long term users, this may not be issue, but for try for fun bikers, this is not fun at all.

Reading some HK users commenting between PCX125 vs PGO Tigra, sound like Tigra is better in term of design, performance and handling, and it is much cheaper in HK. Now with the PCX150 is out, the resale value of PCX125 is going to drop even further.

So good time to consider a less than 1 year PCX125 for less than 6k or a brand new Tigra for around 7k.

I was riding a PGO for 5 years.

Pack and go. I doubt lah. They have been around since the 80s.

PGO used to produce vespa clones like LML and Bajaj. Telecom. Yes the 80s Telecoms uses PGO vespa clone back then.

U can talk to the boss Alan and he might show u all the antique photos.

Servicing wise can talk to Alvin, and Eric the mech who is always working on bikes, U will take care all the PGO scoots with upmost proper standard.

resale value I have no comment lah. Popular bike move faster thus better resale value in a way?

But come back again. High resale value. Buy a new runner at 9K. 10 months later u sell 8K. U think will there be buyer?

Anyway, every brand have their pro and cons.

PGO. reasonable priced and good. reliable provided u don't super abuse it. Good FC. reasonable price spares.

End of the day there are pro and cons for every brand.

do go down and check them out. Look see already then decide.

how much u guys think we can sell a 2 yo pcx 125 when the 150 comes out?

3K-3.5K? Think this is the range bike shop willing to take in.

private buyer maybe 4-4.5 depending on mileage and condition

Posted

Current take in price for less than 1 year PCX125 is around 4.5k for most shop, unless you take a bike from them, maybe $500 more, mileage or condition are not important for bikeshop, they will "do" it till "like new" (for 1~2 months before all problems surface). It is almost half gone since the announcement of PCX150, some bikeshop don't even want to take in at all.

For private buyer, unless is 'hygon' type, otherwise also unlikely to go beyond 5.5k for less than 1 year old PCX, mileage and condition play very important part for private buyer, coz replace is costly, Honda parts can be expensive for certain items.

Anyway, PCX125 is mostly agreed overpriced, hence once come to resale, the reasonable market value will shock the owner.

Most bikeshop use something like this for trade in price: (high demand/popular models only, overpriced or low demand models not applicable)

Less than 1 year: 70 to 75% of current market price

1 to 2 years: 50 to 60% of purchase price*

2 to 3 years: 40 to 50% of purchase price*

They take reference price, usually lower than actual.

More than 3 years 2B bike/scooter: $350 to $400 per year left, so a 5 years old bike may only get $200 best depending on make/model and outlook/condition.

Very sad but it is the true.

I tends to agree with you.

BTW the new Tigra 125 EFi looks really good alternative to PCX125, it is almost 2k cheaper and the instrument display is so much more solid than PCX (showing nothing, not even RPM or clock), saw a few on the road, the pickup and cruise performance are good, I kind of believe it is more superior than PCX125. It is for sure better than SYM excel(2)/fighter series, very close to Evoi (171cc) kind of aliveness, was told the FC is up to 60km/l and the design is very much Piaggio alike, over engineered which is good for owner unlike SYM/Kymco which more Suzuki alike, only setback for Tigra is the 'look', not as lovely as PCX (sweeter look).

PCX150 focus on better performance than FC, so it is depends on what the buyer is looking for.

The current/older PCX125 is going to suffer more depreciation with the new PCX125 engine and better FC.

before we could lay our hands on the PCX150, a newer 125cc model is launched.

the 2012 model has a new engine and claimed to have better fuel economy.

I like it alot. BUT. at 1.85 tall I will look like an elephant trying to ride a monkey.

siao boh? so low?

U can try ask bike shop lah. Any bike will almost auto loose up to 50% when sold off second hand.

2010 PCX when come out was 6.5K.

Like deepblur says. Unless it is a popular and wanted bike. It will loose more.

Back in 2004. a Runner VXR200 brand new was 6.4K (coe 1.) Sell of 1 year later, Max is get at most 3.5k or 4K if you are super lucky.

I sold it at 4K to a private buyer. bargain to 3.8k. Have to be fair. Cos I want to sell it. She wants to buy it.

Bike shope will offer me 2.8K to 3K max. Bike shop will offer her. 4.2K-4.5K.

My Era was just launch and not much second hand on market.

The mechanics is simple. Bike shop take in. Must mark up and sell then make $.

6.5Knew if I sell 5K for 1 year old. Who will buy? Interest rate for second hand bike is higher. sso end of the day. The monthly installment is the same.

Whoever tell u that whichever bike have good resale value is bullshit. :p

Unless u are not staying in singapore or u are riding a Lambretta. :p

Are you talking about the one parked inside the shop, Alan told my friend the owner 'outstation' and ask him to look after the bike?
