and dont be silly to take the x1r with sports rim with no electric starter. get the spokey rim with an electric starter.

Sports rim with electric starter got?

Me also just got my 2B on 30 Sep..

Still undecided which bike to get..

ybr

fz150i

bajaj pulsar

spark.......

3k budget..

With that budget, you can only get a YBR comfortably, including insurance, everything.

i doubt so, the ori sports enkei rims is already quite pricey doubt they include a free button start eyy? people usually get the spokey rims with button start and change it to those 8 legged racing boy rims @ jb anyways.

i was lucky to get the enkei sports rims from my friend who trade in his x1r to a bigger cc :)

One kind soul change the sport rim with me too.. So any electric start x1r comes with spokey..

You might want to consider the specs of the machine and it's maintenance.. Ride safe when u get one aight?

Problems arise from advancement of technology - it causes unnecessary misunderstanding among us humans.

From what ive experience, theres no cheap and good kind of thing when it comes to bike.

since you dont have much knowledge on bikes, bringing someone with experience would be my advice.

because walking to a bike shop, u look around see nice nice, the salesman smile only.

they talk as though they are like your friends. esp when u really want to sign.

but the problem will only come after collection a few days or weeks u start to feel weird while riding. thats where its all too late.

thats my exp when i first buy my bike. its a good choice of thinking to get Spark or X1. economical (: spare parts abundant in sg and jb.

so good luck to u and congrats on passing (:

for you to guage. got my spark at 6.6k last month.

bike $4000 + COE $1700 + insurance $700 + ERP unit $170 + Others $$$ = 6.6K

for X1R normally it 200-400 more if i am not wrong. if you like it look, it a good choice. personally i feel, the only real measureable performance X1R had over spark is it rear bake (Disc over drum). also the handle bar is a couple of inches shorter. better for going through tight traffic if that matter to you :p

go to any shop at jalan bukit merah

just say you just pass 2B know nothing about bikes

look for the salesman with the widest GRIN

then buy your new bike from him

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

LOL! I did that once for fun and managed to get a deal for a older-spec Bajaj Pulsar for $500. Lmao.

I wonder why it could be so cheap?

new x1r 4k+ nia ? so cheap ?

call all insurance company n check

machine price only, u add coe, insur, etc, etc, easily 6-8k.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

If I use my cousin's name to buy a spark, will the insurance be cheaper? He is 7 years older than me and riding a class 2 bike

No. Because when you buy insurance, it will be tagged at the person who is younger, hence, same price as if you bought it yourself.

If your budget is 4-5k normally you would need another ~1k for miscellaneous stuff like petrol, parking, cashcard, regular maintenance, repairs if your bike breaks down and not under warranty, mods, tyres, brake pads, wheel bearings, helmets, raincoat, gloves, jacket, chainlube, shampoo, wax.... And, TOUCHWOOD, if you're got into an accident, need to set aside somemore $$$. :)

congrats on your license! i paid my insurance for at least 1k but do be prepared to fork out money. i agree to bringing a more experienced rider with you as they know more bout bikes and they might be able to help you to get a better deal, ensure you wont be short changed. anyway i got a secondhand bike from one of the shops in bukit merah. when i went for servicing i found out they gave me a really cheap spark plug. i guess that might be the reason why it's so cheap there? :/

Yay congrats on your license! Remember the first time i went shopping for a bike too....

Agree with most of the posters, except the one who said look for the widest grin =P

But overall its to go look see, don't get pressurized into making a decision, if you feel uncomfortable at any time, walk away. Do keep balance like if your bike + Insurance + COE (if new) is 4k

But in any case, go look see, get an idea of the price range, it mainly depends upon condition of bike + accessories + year of registration thats where the price varies... Look for tell tale signs of abuse like fairing damages or loose fairings, or even rusty pipes or parts... But overall the key is If you are uncomfortable, walk away.

"Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down with young goats, calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children will take care of them. Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace." Isaiah 11:6-8
