Hmmm, with all the advances in the Li-po batteries, I think gas is now a thing of the past. But still I have a few gassers at home which are fun to fly but a real b|tch to clean!

anyone bought e Picoo Z R/C helicopter?

At just 17cm (under 7 inches) long and only 4cm (1.5ins) wide, this gnat of a flying machine is the smallest and lightest miniature R/C Helicopter in the world.

Fitting in the palm of your hand, the Picoo Z X Rotor is made from tough expanded Polypropylene foam(in other words.. crash proof!), and incorporates an auto stability system, making it a breeze to fly, and possibly the most disruptive office toy other than the rotating missile launcher I introduce few months ago.

The Picoo Z is a 2-Channel Infrared Mini Helicopter from Silverlit, the only headache is that the thing comes in only 3 channels, so up to three can be flown near each other at once, and each must be on different frequencies or channels (A, B or C).

If you buy more than one, make sure you get different channels (one way to do this is to buy different-coloured helicopters, or read the box for the Channel) or else you will see 1 RC controlling 2 helicopters..

Next, it runs on 6 AA-sized batteries. A 20 minute charge gives you about 15 minutes of flight. You charge it from the transmitter that holds the 6 AA-sized batteries. I uses Duracell, it allows me about 24hrs of charge time. So make sure you factor this cost in, or get rechargeables.

Currently it is creating a mad frenzy in Europe and esp America. Places like KMart, Toy 'r' Us and Walmart are receiving overwhelming responds.

I did a check in a few international RC forum.. 'Only accepting orders, not available instore'

Over in Singapore.. juz beginning to pick u..

Most of the forums, u will see pple toking about it. And at S$39.90, it makes a perfect Christmas present for kids. They sell these at US$49.95 in the US (the illegal ones.. because sold out everywhere), so we really get a bargain here and the luxury to choose the one with the better looking packaging.

Features

- The world's smallest and lightest mini RC helicopter.

- It comes ready to fly.

- It is made from tough expanded Polypropylene foam.

- An incorporated auto stability system making it easy to fly.

- A pre-installed two channel proportional wide beam infra red

control system that is also tri-band A, B, C.

- Recharging takes place via the included transmitter.

- The transmitter has an Alignment Trim, a Charging and Power

Indicator, a Left/Right Lever and a Trimmer.

- A lightweight Lithium Polymer flight battery.

- A small blue LED strobe light that flashes in-flight for night flying.

- A Spare Tail Propeller.

- Full instructions.

- Suitable for ages 8 years+.

- Requires 6 x AA Batteries for the transmitter (not included).

Size:

Helicopter: 17 x 7 x 4cm

Transmitter: 14 x 13 x 4.5cm

The price of Picoo Z is S$39.90:

Available in Carrefour Suntec and major toy fairs in town.

I tot so too, but those things are not cheap at all for some strange reason, I might as well get myself a cheap kit from GWS and thrash the hell out of it.

Cheers

Regarding the IFO, you are all correct guys - 2 years ago when I saw somebody flying the kite thingy, I went to ask him 5W1H, and he told me it costs about $750 - $800.

Today I go on the internet and check - a made in china set complete with radio only $150.

In any case I don't think it'll be as fun as flying a plane... though I don't own a plane... different category lah.

*phew* finally sold off my gas car today. Next target - the skies~ :box:
