The poor McDonald boys. Till date, there's way too much speculations and amongst the best urban legends were - They were sold to Thailand.

But I did recall, one of those ex-CID guys mentioned, there's no difference between them and Thai kids and they already have enough of their streetkids to begin with, so its a fallacy theory.

The reason why the two boys called as such - McDonalds took a very deep concern and offered like 5-6 digits for anyone with info.

Till date, whenever I read their stories, it gives me a chill. One of the unresolved mysteries in Singapore.

Dingdangs are when you feel rich-days. 50 cents per pack is definitely not cheap for those of us who gets a dollar-a-day-allowance. It's a freaking marketing ploy, we're being shortchanged with one measly bag of choc-coated riceballs.

Kaka, Chickadees, Cheezels were the them of the day. And on those days you feel like a rich *******, you get to treat yourself to those black colored bags with a huge green Question Mark on its front. Inside are VERY random toys LOL.

Talking about SBC 8, I am still living in those times where they made series on all the uniformed occupations in Singapore, starting with Army Series that made Huang Wenyong famous (whoever gets it on Youtube scores a brownie point!), then the Navy, followed by Air Force. TP series came much later than that. One of my alltime fave is about the Prisons, where that dude had huge biceps (I still dont know his name tho)

And adolescence, where Silk Stalkings/Scene of the Crime shows after primetime TV where late daddy and mommy were asleep. The first ten minutes are critical, if you missed it, switch off the tv and sleep.

MASK Crusaders! Always fighting crime! Fighting Crime!

Brave Starr - Sherrif with a horse with no legs

Toriton - Till date no one knows what I am talking about but I love this cartoon.

A cheapskate way of pissing friends off : roll a small piece of paper, double it and stick a rubber band into the bend and catapult it up your friends ass. A sure way of getting into fistfight. LOL

Dear Sir

I remember growing up at a time where parents were paranoid about child safety. I was not allowed to do a lot of things other kids do! Not even take bus/MRT because it's faster than my (late) dad's driving!

That's why transportation became my favourite subject when growing up. Buses, trains, aircraft, etc.

These days I use different management styles altogether for my kids. Empowerment is the way to go. (newbie power :p) Besides, the world is too damn easily connected these days, anyway.

Seems that quite a few people enjoyed this show.

Was Cherie Lim in this clip too? Can't see too clearly. She married Peter Lim (almost bought Liverpool) and left Mediacorp after that.

I remember that when I was young. The theme song always gives me the chills.

Used to rush home from class just to watch this.

OMG!!!!! Yes! I remember all the impossible volleyball shots in that Japanese show!!! 凌空翻身球!!! Thought the local one was a bit lame.

There was also a tennis version. You hit the ball to the side and the ball will rotate around the net and land on the other side!!

Speaking of Japanese shows, in the early 1980s, Japanese shows were all the rage. There was Oshin, and then several shows featuring Momoe Yamaguchi (山口百恵) and Tomokazu Miura (三浦友和). There was this one about blood and it turned out that the two actors were actually half brothers, when the female lead got blood cancer and the male lead wanted to donate blood.

There was also a Brazilian soap opera featuring a white slave girl and her lecherous master. Think title was 女奴 (Escrava Isaura). My mom kept criticising the slave girl for having a horse face! I remember the theme song as my brother used to sing to it to annoy me :D

YES! I am always searching YouTube for theme songs of old SBC shows. The earliest SBC show I could remember was Seletar Robbery (实里达大劫案). The SBC shows in the 1980s and early 1990s were so good. That was when SBC was still using producers and directors from Hong Kong. I heard that many of these producers left after SBC corporatised to TCS. Standards fell really badly after that!

I really enjoyed this one: Kopi-O!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ngqUY8h6w

And then there's this unforgettable robotic voice during the 8 O'Clock News on Channel 8:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj6Dcy39gSE

"Time by Raymond Weil... 8 Pee Am!!"

wah lutein, we must be about the same age.

I don't know if anyone remembered this, but there used to be this baseball card vending machine.

I only had a vague memory about playing with it last time. The machine will always say something like "Atoni~ Quan lei da, qing shua ka!" (Home run, please swipe card)

When you put coin in, the light will stop randomly at any part of the baseball court and you will get 1-3 cards depending on where you stop.

Well...I always keep a lot of 20 cents coins to get ultraman cards outside 7-11...Not sure why I'm so addicted to it, I don't even like ultraman! Guess I just like the thrill of getting cards from machine. :o
