Graves65, you've worked in a bike shop before right?

what are your thoughts on shaunzz's predicament?

Juz put a simple valve clearance job, to my knowledge, some bikes need to drain coolent, some no need.

simple valve clearance,

1st step, remove tank

2nd step, bike must cool down

3rd step, all engine oil to be drained,

4th step, removed engine head to access the cams and valves

then etc etc ...

main aim of valve clearance is to check the shims, u shd not be charged for all shims as it is an exchange for the "right mm", unless they buy all.

a normal and standard valve clearance shd take 2 working days... any faster than that means its a fast and wishy-washy job

as for shaunz, its correct to use the black colour gum, but excessive use could means they tore ur head gasket rubber? sometimes we at the shop do replace the whole head gasket rubber if we think it is worn.

as a result, usually valve clearance is a long process and required detail measurement of "shims".. +change of engine oil and spark plugs

job cost, shd be $350-$500, depending on things changed

Sigh .... so bored ...

my personal thoughts are ...

how much u pay = how much u get? BUT it doesnt mean, more u pay, the more u get...

for this kind of job, its best to go to shops who are established for a long time or look for mechanics who are in the trade for long time

ppl like eugene (ducati), henry (at vector 1), unity (ah siong), micheal chong (at kallang)... alex (ex-motorsales)...brian (bmw motorcycles) ... are the only ppl to be trusted with engine work, but as they are detailed with work, it will cost and u have to wait. score: 9/10.....

engine modification like porting, big bore, skimming,--> Sato and Ryuta (sporting motors)...

as for the rest, i heard too much of them "screwing up" and i will not name which shops.

Sigh .... so bored ...

In shaunzz's case, you reckon its possible that it was opened up, but the mechanic decided that nothing needed to be replaced?

In that case, i guess the only way he'll know for sure is to have the top opened and looked through by another mechanic

if no gum, its like 80% never even open fairing

+ or -

actually depends on ur riding style ...

ppl do + or - is to suit their gear changing style on track.

+/- 1 have slight difference on top end.

rem +/- 1 on the front = +/- 3 on the rear

a 530 chain is stock, this is much heavier,

using a 520 chain, has better benefits...(not sure how to say it, afraid say wrongly and get flame again ...) heehee

hard to find 2nd hand pc3 for k5 k6.... no diff cos it just a plug in.. unless the unit has been dropped or 'hurt' in crash before..

fix it up and still need to go tuning before it solves your problem.... doesnt mean fix up can liao...

WW, wat is the price of a new PC3 now?

hi bro, about the problem u mentioned, it has 2 do with a faulty idle speed controller(ISC). i had the problem 2, went back to bike shop n they sent the bike back 2 suzuki agent to change the throttle assembly.

the change of the part is FOC as bike still under warranty n suzuki is also aware of the problem, should just take a day or 2 to get it done

i just call guan hoe, two k7 1G had this (ISC problem) and they are checking this problem. now i had to wait for the call from margaret from guan hoe.

sian.....

now two problem liao for k7 1G .....throttle assembly and front left brake warp.

since your discussing about chains. How do you guys clean your chains before re lubricating it? Petrol? Kerosene? WD40?

:p
