u need to check the Bat. and the rectifier.. u can check ur self....

Already sold the R1. Now on an FZ. Will consider a rear shock if I keep this bike past 2 yrs. I don't exactly have a good history of keeping bikes for long.

prices range from 1.5k to 2.3k depending on what type u want. Normal ones? Better ones? Or those racing ones?

 

 

hmmm, i don now which one is normal one and which one is better one. i make a quick search on Ohlins web and found only this 2 suitable for my 06 model.

Try increase your idling see if it works. Sometimes too low idling can make the bike just die off in any gear you are in.

Need help here on my R1 07

Does anyone encounter like after riding u off your engine switch then after 5mins or less than that when u want to move u turn on ur ignition switch and when u depress the start button ur engine run but immediately die off.I dunno what going on but i can see the temperature show high when i press the start button even though before i start the temperature only indicate 80 degress but only when i start the temperature show high and it doesnt allow me to start my bike.i had to rev the motor hard and keep it at a high rpm for awhile then ok but i never encounter this before.I could easily start the bike and move without revving it hard.I hope the bros here can help me in this.Must i go back to the agent to diagnose the problem?But i have no more warranty with them liao.If i did go back to agent how much is the damage for them to diagnose?Issit free?

 

Since u ask, i teach u a tip....

Step1: Press and hold "select"+"reset" when bike is switched off and "engine kill switch" is off position.

 

Step2: Holding the 2 buttons, switch on ur bike.. wait for 5secs. Then u will heard a click sound. Bike meter will go into diagnostic mode.**

 

Step 3 : Use "Select" button to view diagn catergories.

 

Step 4: Record all the numbers, which u shd see a difference.

 

**Pls download R1 07 workshop service manual online b4 attempting, read diagnostic section. Do not attempt this at home, as bike battery will be flat if u go into diag. mode too long. Make sure "engine kill switch" remains off thru out the whole process

do i need to change ohlins fork to complement the ohlins shock, or just change the shock enough?...

U only need front forks if u go to the track often.. probably can buy the cartiage kit...

Anyway i think the ohlins cost 2k plus? also depends on what type of suspension u want? 2 way - 3 way?

And if i am not wrong, ohlins come with a standard spring while penske suspensions come with customised springs according to your weight and cost cheaper if the prices are the same as i enquired before.

 

I agree with deuxmachina that one can feel the difference between a stock and an aftermarket suspension at any time. The "feeling" of sitting on a 2k plus suspension adds more bling bling also. haha

Actually for most of the literbikes, the fork is already pretty good. The damping is sufficient to keep up. Maybe a good set of springs or a revalving will do.

 

The weak link is the rear shock, especially for the R1. It loses damping too soon, and the damping is also not good to begin with. A remote reservoir would be good. The Penske comes with that. The Ohlins is still a piggyback design.

 

I'd change the rear shox first, then work on the front if there's spare cash.
