Yesterday Night, near Vivo City, i saw someone one a Blue R1'09. Chinese Guy. I wasn't riding my R1 so i didn't get a chance to get his attention. Maybe his here??

cause i find it smoother and respond better without clutching

 

Yeah bro... I do find clutchless upshift being smoother and more responsive.. The power from the previous gear is easily extended smoothly with the power from the next gear.... No lag in response.. Can extend clutchplates life if use clutchless upshifts... Just my .63 cents worth of thoughts...

hi guys just got my R1 09 would like to ask if it's normal for the pipe to have small backfire sound when changing to gear 3? it's still running in...

 

u have to be more specific.

The moment u change gear? or release clutch? or when u open throttle.

 

This is a unique engine, and it has strange noises that most riders will feel that there's something wrong.

 

What i realize is that, this bike does have minor backfire sounds from time to time. Depends how u ride it.

i cannot remember clearly when or how it happen but just keep hearing little back fire sound... but by wat u said i think it's normal den thxs a lot

Yes.. Ah tak got alot of experience of stripping the engine..

It is normal.. on and off in every gears.. not backfire.. some popping sound that dont harm the engine..

Now got alot otr.. damn the price has dropped to 25.5k MP.. back then was 27.5k MP.. 2k difference in 2 months..

Aie, any idea how much would be the expected cost for just changing of piston rings? From what I understand, an engine drop is required, which would eat a lot of labour cost.

When Idling, pull in your clutch. If sound goes away, just a loose clutch basket/housing.

Max, it's not a clutch problem. My crankcase breather is not connected to the airbox cos there's excessive white smoke caused by EO being combusted. Once connected, the engine dies. Also, I have problems starting the engine. I need to press the starter for more than 5 seconds, afterwards maintain a constant throttle to warm up the engine, otherwise it dies immediately. From my understanding, this could be due to the 3 cylinder having to drive the 4th cylinder, which is not giving out enough power due to the low compression. Spraying water on the headers also proved the point. The 3 headers evaporate water quickly, but the 4th has the water droplets flowing down the header. It's not hot enough.

 

How I wish I had the place and tools to tear apart that engine myself.
