Not cheap. In fact I think its ex haha. Buying direct from AD be it HL or BS is never cheaper than buying from dealers I guess, due to the fact that dealers can get bikes from AD at "dealers' price". Eg. Excel is selling brand new R1'08 at 19.5k. Was quoted all in w/o insurance, 22.3k. ASP is selling its last remaining brand new black R1'08 at 22k all in, yup ALL IN. That was abt a mth ago. Ah Chew divulged it has been sitting there for ages and he was willing to sell it "at a loss". (Really? hmmm..) Well I didn't bite.. Didn't want black anyway..

For me, I prefer to deal direct with AD when buying a brand new bike, even though buying one from a dealer could save me a couple of thousands..

Yup I know it's quite a difference. It's up to the individual la I think. When it comes to buying brand new bike, I very im chim wan. Paranoid this n that. ASP's R1 sit there so long, not sure if anything 'happened' to it..

yup one thing is the factory engine oil they left in there after the bike was manufactured. another is the state of the air filter element. another is the tyres.

 

ever tried wearing a shoe that was sitting on the shelve for 2yrs and doing sports with it? I tried and the sole crumbled.

hi guys, finally change to a fresh pair of tires, Bridgestone BT 003 R/S. Saw some good review on the web and also Regina told me its a new tires. Mine is front: week 19 2009, rear: week 20 2009. now running in the tire.

I've just read up the 2009 Superbike Smackdown on Motorcycle USA. It's interesting how the 09 R1 is last on the street and track tests but yet, is the bike that comes in first in MotoGP races. Just goes to prove that the riders' skills play an important role and not just the bike itself.

 

To prove that point, give me the best and fastest bike to ride on track and I still won't make it to the podium with my fantastic tour mode skills...

yea i read that article too, was quite surprised, but comments on their web said the california model was restricted in terms of ecu mapping compared to the EU spec. Dunno how true is that though.

Cycle World tested with controlled tyres says otherwise... Apparently the American model is highly restricted to pass the regulatory or the Motorcycle USA guys got themselves a lemon.

R1'08 or R1'09? If R1'08 you'd better fast leg fast hand coz HL won't stock them till they're all sold. I reckon HL still has abt 50 pieces of R1'08 in their warehouse (don't know how true, heard from Ah Chew from ASP). Price of R1'08 has been inching south every mth (not much, one two hundred maybe), probably to entice potential buyers. But HL wouldn't spoil their own market, the price would slide till a point where it steadies, then before you know it, they'll all be exported to another country liao!
