The funny thing was when I topped up V-Power on my GSX R400R last time, the bike like no pick up like that. Very draggy and heavy, shifting from low gear to high gear. It was only when I topped up with 97 back that the power returned to normal. I'm referring to the Shell V-Power petrol in JB...

not sure about that...

but if u think logically... either because you use less power petrol u dun wan wack, then in the end will use less petrol liao?

or coz less power wan wack will wack more, which will use more petrol?

so as long u start the bike, all grades of petrol can be used.

its quite impossible that they mix up the petrol. they use different dye for different grades of fuel. if to compare gasoline in singapore, shell Vpower is the best in the local market. the RON reading for Vpower is > 98 close to 99. there's also insignificant level of MTBE and other oxygenates. so u can relatively say that Vpower is pure and good stuff.

is quite true that there isnt much difference between 95R and 98R, actually there are more areas to consider the petrol besides the RON level. for example the

1) Density. usually for a higher RON grade of petrol will have a higher density, that explain why higher ron petrol can burn longer and register higher milage. save more $

2) RVP is the vapour pressure ,lower RVP will burn faster in the combustion chamber cos the vapour pressure is lighter. usually mogas will have an RVP of about 7.5 to 8.5 psi. too low RVP also no good, cos it burn too fast. lower milage.

3)Oxygenates. nowadays instead of adding lead. most of the mogas are blended with MTBE(methyl tri butyl ether) to boost the RON, for example the mogas may just register a ron reading of 91. instead of selling it at the price of a 88R mogas, the seller may blend it with MTBE to boost up to 92R. making a profit with it.

most of the petrol selling in singapore are from the refineries so they r relatively 'clean' i cant say much about mogas from overseas. basically if the vehicle run well with 95R then why should you use a more expensive grade. its true that 92r will register a lower milage because usually they have lower density,IBP,RVP thats why burnt off faster. so if can use 95 then use 95.
