Thanks revhappy! So can i confirm to hang the helmet i must buy a key lock? I'm thinking of using my old saddle bags for extra storage. I'll see how. My bike no pick up but can hit 100km/h with pillion which is good enough. Only thing when lane splitting not stable cos maybe front a bit light.

i think i'm in love with a Bol'dor.

Try plugging overated bulbs and loading your bike with lot of electric gizmo like hella horn.. Within 2 weeks your rectifier and coil will get burned in low level oil.. Oil cooler is not that difficult.. But you will need to modified two bolts, one in your drain bolt and another at your crankcase breather..

There are other cheaper ways to keep the engine cool, like exhaust heat wrap and oil breather system.

Slownsteady congrats on ur ybr buy, good choice :). To put more stuff just mount e21 side panniers, will look nice

totally agree, this actually works with air cool scooters too!

Hey if i wrap the exhaust. It'll rust underneath right? And what is an oil breather system? Please enlighten me.

Where can I go if I wanna do these mods and how much do they costs?

To be honest, exhaust wrap doesnt help in naked bikes especially ybr.. Basically useless.. Oil breather is ventilation for the blowby gas from the piston in the crankcase.. Most bikes have thier tube attached to the intake instead of venting out.. For oil breather mod is basically free to mod.. Unless you wanna have an oil catch can..

My previous phantom has exhaust heat wrap, it felt cooler than my previous to previous phantom. You also used to ride Phantom isnt it? Remember the exhaust got tick tick noise after you stop the bike, because it is cooling down?

My phantom with exhaust heat wrap never had that tick tick noise.

Heat wrap was first introduce to keep all the heat off the engine bay and other potential heat damage by keeping all the heat in the header and out the exhaust.. Ybr exhaust is 24/7 expose and off most the other parts.. So i dont see any effect in putting one.. The ticking is natural.. The heat wrap dampens the ticking sound.. But has no affect on performance or even cools the bike..

I think heat wrap also increases the speed of gas flowing out of exhaust. Because the hot air does not cool down in the header, it moves faster. Heard people said after wrapping can feel the difference. And sound more bassy.

@rev Happy- Does it do this? And the question of would it rust underneath the heat wrap. Most important question. How much does it cause and where do you get it done?

@Ying hai- Where do buy breather vent?

Posted

Sound difference maybe, but faster exhaust flowing, definitely no..ive already tried them on my ybr and hornet.. Breather?? Just pull the tube connecting your crankcase to your exhaust out.. That will make your breather vent out to the air instead of airbox..

Maybe YingHai is right, what I felt might be purely psychological as I dont have any thermometer to measure the temperature, that would be the only way to be certain if it indeed keeps it cool. You can may be google and see for proofs.

Regarding rusting, I think yes, there is definitely high chance that the rate of corrosion will increase since teh material is fabric type and rain water will stay in it for sometime. For my bike, it was done by the previous owner, its not expensive at all, someone in the forum itself does CMO for it, I think 7$ per meter or something. Also you search somemore in the forum, people have also done it using kitchen alumimnium foil wrap and virtually free of cost, lol, and they find it effective.

then what big difference does it make? How come it will run cooler? airbox vs open air.

Maybe i'll wrap just for the sound lor.

During the combustion on the down stroke, little gas escape through the piston ring and into the crankcase.. These gas then ventilated into the airbox to be fired together with the new fresh air.. These gas not only contain co2 and such, it also contains fumes of the oil.. Just imagine all these gas going into your engine.. These gases cant be burn again.. You engine requires 1 part gasoline to 14 part air ratio.. Becos of these gases, your intake is about 1 part gasoline, 13.5 part air and 0.5 part crankcase gas equals power loss.. Upon venting directly to the air, you are required to do tuning as it will make your bike runs a little lean..

So i remove the crank case breather hose to the air box and i can put a small aftermarket air filter at the end?

Exactly.. Thats what everyone is doing.. Be sure to cover the airbox hole with any rubber plug..

Ok will do just that today. See how everything goes. No-wonder the airbox is oily! Recommend a good brand for exhaust wrap. Usually I see the wraps on other bikes are very messy. Like anyhow wrap like that leh.

@Ying hai - when can u pass me the leds? i'll like to buy the old ybr air filter u modded too.

Might be free on sunday.. Will search for the air filter.. The most common mods for ybr are the simple spark plug and airfilter.. Some rejet, some exhaust, and only afew big bore... Not sure where they get thier piston.. Might be similar to fz16 piston.. As for the crankcase breather, Some use a one way check valve to equalize the pressure.. I tried those fish aquarium check valve before, but not sure how long it last.. Better to find those that fit in just nice.. Air only goes out and not in.. Quite alot of cheap diy..

Yesh..........

Can i just put an air filter at the end? Then wouldn't oil splatter out of the one way valve?

If I change my sprocket size to the fastest top speed one. And mod my air filter, heat wrap exhaust. breather valve, Will my pick up still lose jialat jialat? If oil cooler I also can run leaner?

Each sticker you put adds 1bhp.
