Expert Advice needed for Newbie with 2B License

Hi all,

I'm a newbie holding a 2B license. I'm thinking of buying a light weight, compact scooter, with modern and sporty look. I seek expert advice as to which scooter would be good for a beginner in aspects such as safety, maintenance, usability and comfort.

 

I researched a bit, and found the vespa LX 150 to meet some of my criteria. I also had a look at the Gileria ST 200. I'm totally impressed by Gileria's sporty, compact and slim look. I must agree that I have zero knowledge about their performances, maintenance, pro's and con's.

 

I'm planning to buy a used model for the time being. I'm not sure, if a newbie like me should go for a new scooter or, for the start, can manage with a second hand one.

 

I'm very poor with singapore roads. Hence, I intend to use Tom Tom GPS iPhone app while driving. I'm not sure, if there are any iPhone holders for scooters, that are available in Singapore.

 

I seek expert's advice on the above. I hope you guys would share your valuable experiences and help a newbie (me) to choose the right scooter.
