Yo,

 

Thanxs for those who organised outing and positive atitude toward our thread.

 

From our previous outing we dont have any dress code for during outing.

 

I believe we needs a Rules and regulations for outing, especially BIg group outing.

 

 

Examples of Attires :

 

1. Jacket/Long sleeve top

2. MInimum required to wear Jean

3. NO half cap

4. if possible wear gloves

5.

6. etc

 

Eamples during convoy(for Big group/Mass outing):

 

1. Need last bike

2. Ushers

3. well form up

4. NO unnecessary overtaking

5.

6. etc

 

 

 

Do you think is a good idea for riders ? It main idea for everyone safety conscious

 

I believe other threads has implemented such rules e.g Phatomnight thread.

 

Need structive suggests/ideas.

It fine If the rider feel safe to wear short , slippers and sleeveless... while ridding cub.

 

Frankly speaking, I will wear proper attire for long journey no matter ridding cub/small bike unless nearby coffeeshop la.. hehe

This is obtain thru our SBF mod Bro Mark C.

 

The basic Convoy Group consists of:

 

1. Organiser

His job is to organize, liaison with matters big and small. Things like taking note of each indiviual particular (include their next of kin, incase accident happen), information about emergency numbers (police, hospital, tow service, etc.)

 

2. Pointer / Lead Bike

Pointer will be the 1st bike that lead, usually an experiance rider who 'must' know where to go and when to stop.

 

3. Marker - Usually more than 1

They will be the 2nd,3rd and forth bike close to the Lead bike. During a turn, he will station his bike 'before' the turning point make know to the convoy (main body), until he saw the Sweeper (last bike), then he will proceed to close up with the Pointer again. Usually, it required the best powered bike and a skillful rider to become a Marker.

 

4. Main Body, The Convoy

The happy group of riders, their role is to regulate their travel speed and stay in between the Pointer & Sweeper.

 

5. Sweeper / Last Bike - Accompany by his Buddy

'No one will be left behind' will be his Moto, 1 of the toughest job he got cos when he arrived, most of the convoy had done their 'business' at the resting point and ready to move again!

'buddy' to accompany Sweeper and at the same time, help Sweeper during emergency to inform the front convoy group.

 

Safety Tips during Convoy movement:

 

Convoy of bikes in the order of move: Pointer bike/Lead bike, Marker bikes, Main convoy body and the last Sweeper bike.

 

1. Always think Safety First

 

2. Choose a 'Buddy' to accompany you, look out for each other during the ride

 

3. Keep to the left lane at all time

 

4. Do not tail gate!! create space for youself, front and rear

 

6. Ride in zig zag formation if possible when convoy are too close together

 

7. Don't panic if you have lose sight of front bike, go straight (usually the common practice are: there will be 'Marker bike' station before the turning point)

 

8. Do not Overtake Pointer Bike, and not slower than Sweeper Bike

 

9. During raining, go to your nearest cover e.g petrol station

 

10. Any problem, park your bike at the safe spot and call the organiser

 

Note : Some slight amendment to suit local riding.

Safety Tips during Convoy movement:

• Always think Safety First.
  
• Wear safety gears where possible (Minimum jeans, covered shoes and sleeved shirt)
  
• Keep to the left lane at all times.
  
• Remains traveling speed at +/- 10km/h of the road speed limit (for all riders).
  
• Leaders to signal intention early.
  
• Riders behind have to pass down the signaled intention accordingly.
  
• Tap on horn to inform (Alert) the rider in front if you are stuck at the traffic light.
  
• On hazard lights for those who have it (if don’t have just on your left signal when stopping by the road side).
  
• Do not tail gate! Create space for yourself, front and rear.
  
• Ride in Zig-Zag formation if possible when the convoy was too close together.
  
• Remains going straight unless markers indicate a turn at expressway / small road when is an exits / turns.
  
• Give way to vehicles and try not to road-hog as we are traveling in a convoy.
  
• Don't panic if you have lost sight of front bike, go straight (usually the common practices are: there will be 'Marker' station before the turning point) and (‘Sweeper’ is behind to ensure all bike in front is following the collect route).
  
• Do not Overtake Pointer Bike, and not slower than Sweeper Bike
  
• During raining, go to your nearest cover e.g. petrol station
  
• Know your route to the destination well so as to prevent panic when you cannot follow up to the riders ahead
  
• Choose a 'Buddy' to accompany you, look out for each another during the ride.
  
• Any problem, park your bike at the safe spot and call the organizer.
  

Not advice to do so (Don’t):

• Overtake the rider in front unless absolutely necessary.
  
• Switch lanes without signaling.
  
• Overtaking vehicles from the left and right (Pincer-Style Overtaking).
  
• Beat red light just to keep up with the rider in front.
  
• Challenge/ Disturb other road users on the road.
  
• Slow down excessively resulting in the need to speed to catch up with the convoy.
  
• Try anything dangerous during the ride (e.g. extremely high speed cornering / Bua Kartar / Riding with one or no hands).
  
• Stray away from the group even if the leader is taking a wrong route.

Additonal of safety gears may considered to have a better recognition to all riders .

 

During the process of convoy, difference reflective wear could differentiate the Orgainzer, sweeper, marker, Pointer ... etc. Especially, important of their roles for convoy and visibility to road user.
