$210 for Vapor is indeed a very good price. I paid more to fly it directly.

Anyway, i didn't take 6 hrs to install mine but i have previously installed the Trailtech Endurance.

My vapor is simply mounted, held by screws on my dash-board.

The design of the Vapor will make your "detachable' idea a challenge. Because sticking out from the back of the Vapor are four sets of short cable. each with a snap-on connectors for "power", "Tacho", "Speedo", and "Temperature". In short, every time you remove your vapor, your have to unhook 4 set of cables.

Share with me if you have come up with a great idea that makes the Vapor "easy-on-easy-off", like the Endurance.

Just for your info, my Vapor set came with Installation instructions but not the Operator manual, so you need to go to their site and download the Operator manual, otherwise you will have a hard time during the parameter setup.

mxsteven : You you can make it detachable. But if you're still intending to keep the original connectors as shown by Demon, you'll have to click and press 4 connectors each time you remove the computer.

Installed ours after Xmas last year but mine is fixed to the bike with a home made bracket. Below are some pix for you guys who are installing on your own. Should take abt an hour. Oh and saves you like S$89 too! :D :thumb:

Here's what I posted on another forum. I'll juz paste it here and edit some of the descriptions. Didn't include the other sensor installation processes as they are generally the same. I'd like to see what methods you guys will use to mount the temo sensor tho.

WARNING LONG THREAD!

-----

The computer itself and the 4 connectors. They are a little difficult to disconnect with your fingers so have a pincer or something similar ready.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor2.jpg

Here's a bracket I made in a rush. You guys do not need the portion marked "Ignition Holder". Its for my own ignition switch. Definitely not a work of art but it holds the meter firm!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor5.jpg

Don't use the plastic handlebar mounting clamps if you can. They extend the meter too high up and because they are plastic, easily broken.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor6.jpg

These are the power cables. I pulled each wire thru insulator tubes and attached connectors so they would fit the battery perfect.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor10.jpg

This shows the power cables inside a larger diameter red insulator tube being pulled all the way to the Vapor unit itself.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor11.jpg

Final product. One large red tube and one thinner tube. Not that messy now.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor13.jpg

Night shot...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor9.jpg

Splash test on day one. Washed the bike after installation. Also left it in the pouring rain to see how resistant it is to water. No issues thus far. But not to worry tho, Trailtech USA gives a one for one swap for any meter that seeps water! Yes! Even if its YOUR fault riding into the river! :thumb: :thumb:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Linking/vapor8.jpg

This product isn't revealed to public yet but if you guys are interested, drop a mail to Trailtech USA. They are taking pre orders now I believe.

Didn't you fuse the line since it's tap directly from the battery ?

I didn't think it was necessary to install the engine temperature sensor as mine is an air-cool bike. I read in "thumpertalk', one modified the engine drain oil plug to fit the sensor, so it can monitor the engine oil temperature.

Hmmm fuse? As in leave them joined as they came?

This less than $0.25 thingy could save your Vapor

Oh I get what you mean now! Roger, will connect a fuse tomorrow. What rating did you use? Tot you meant "fuse" as in "join".

This Vapor consume current less than 200mA so it is advisable to put a 0.5A fuse since smaller fuse hard to get unless you can get a SMD component fuse. If you want to be really safe then i will suggest to put a 9v Zener diode and a 0.5A fuse.

The latest info i got from Andrew (Mezzo) 8 unit of TT vapor coming in abt this Friday.... So i booked one! monday i will TT money to Mezzo then they will post to me. The postage will take about 12 to 13 days if by land (geezz i think the postman crawling to KL) If by EMS it would be 8 days only (maybe this one is Rabbit post "errr wat sup doc"). which by land postage is abt 10sgd and by EMS is abt 21sgd..

errrr any pigieon post or duck post hehehe or UPS (U Play Safe)

I don't think blade fuse come in 0.5A fuse. Looking at the Vapor External Power Input, 10A would be ok.

About the postage, something just don't add up. I just sent some a parcel of 2x Polo shirts (definitely weigh more than the Vapor) to Taiwan by registered airmail with bubble-envelop, cost me SGD12.50 in all. Took 6 days to reach there. Relatively speaking, it shouldn't cost more and take longer time to send stuff to KL than to Taiwan.

Let me know if I can help. I have not been to Mezzo, but since it's in Geylang, it should be familiar to most male locals.

ohhh by the way the blade fuse does have 0.5a which im using in my bike now! if you cant get it in SGP then i will get it here for you... or let me get my vapor 1st then let me mod to detachable after that i can post the detachable kit to you.

now im also designing a programble universal CDI. i have done one but not that eficient... hehehe DIY sometimes fail hehehe... now im designing onother one with tempreture control auto retard... i lost the design which i did one for the CBR F4 (carb version) and all the maping gone with my harddisk when my harddisk kaput.

if anyone here have any idea to improve bike perfomance or any suggestion about electrical and electronics! pls let me know!! i would love to share my experience with you guys!
