Best bet is to get from PML, comes with warranty. $234

Yes. I change it at PML nearly two years ago. Service charge is $90/- plus 7% GST. Total cost around $348. Lasted less than 2 years. So now looking for cheaper alternatives.

Some leaked pictures of the 2012 GSA are out in the rumour mill. Same colour scheme as Magma Red, but this time round with LED handguards to accentuate the looks.

Here's a pic:-

modern bikes these days are loaded with too much electronics and as such the battery is very important. do not skimp on it but i reckon you can get yausa's outside for more decent money than what you pay at PML.

kano, we all started off dreaming of a machine, eventually you will obtain it, its a matter of time.

Most likely is your battery.... pardon me, is it a servo assist brakes?

Yes its with servo assit brakes. battery was only changed few months back. does that mean that i have to take it out to charge it regularly?

Might be the brake fluid level too low or brake pads too thin.... Try doing a brake fluid flush first... Measure your battery voltage after overnight parking to see whether the battery is healthy. 12.40 and above means ok. 12.30 battery still can make it.. below 12.20 mean battery dying...

how does thin barke pad affect the light? anyway how do i flush the fluid? the level seems healthy to me. i am still trying to figure how to access the battery to test the voltage.hmm.

You can measure the battery voltage via the BMW power outlet socket.

You don’t need a special plug, just lift the cover and poke your multimeter probe inside. Positve probe (red) to the center electrode at the bottom of the socket and touch the negative probe (black) to any bare metal parts on your bike.

The brake fluid level you see in the brake master cylinder is only half of the story. There are another 2 brake fluid reservoirs (front+rear) built into the servo/ABS modulator under your tank.

There is a table in the BMW owner’s manual under servo brake section, you might want to refer to it for the cause(s) of the problem base on the pattern of how the warning lights blink.

Thank you very much phang. that is really informative. according to the manual. the battery is weak.will check the voltage really soon. anyway what is the socket for? it is not a ciggi socket right? wonder if i can charge my battery using the socket.

It is a power outlet socket to supply 12Vdc to gadgets on your bike. I am not sure about RT but my R1150R’s power outlet is located at the starter cover on the left side of the bike.

Yes, you can charge your battery via this socket. You need a mini cigarette plug which looks like this:

I just realized I posted this in page 209 before

For ABS servo assist brakes, there are 4 circuit altogether.. You cant really see if the fluid is sufficient or not... Thinner brake pads will call for more fluid from the servo unit, therefore, it will cause low fluid warning...
