I just obtained my 2B license and I know I can only get a bike below 200cc. Since I am new to Singapore and am a foreigner, what are my choices and where can I go to get a loan for the bike?

Incidentally, I like something that looks like the Aprilia 125 RS 2010 modal.

Would appreciate your views and feedback.

Jake

wow, hmm well the bikes that compare with a 125 rs2010 (2stroke) model (not necessarily in performance) are

http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/images/Yamaha/2008Y/2008_R125_6.jpg

yzf 125 r - 4 stroke, thus less power, but more reliable (debatable)

yamaha R15 -4 stroke - not as expensive nor good looking as the r125

mito 525- 2 stroke -the most desirable of 2B sportsbieks IMO

reiju rs2 125 - 4 stroke - new kid on the block, i dont know much about it

http://www.bikebits4you.com/images/categories/Hyosung-Comet-gt125r.jpg

the hyosung Gtr125 (4 stroke) - good looker, not bad performance, but apparently poor finish, screws rust quick

daelim roadwin R - 4 stroke - looks like a decent buy, someone went on a very long touring trip to thailand on it, so it seems reliable.

the little cbr 125 4 stroke

derbi GPR 125 racing - 2 stroke - i dont know much about it

derbi gpr 125 4v - 4 stroke - i dont know much about it

this is not exhaustive, and are generally only the NEW 2b sportsbikes

list goes on if u include 2nd hand, but u seem to be targeting new bikes, so here you go.

if you're buying first hand, it wont be much of a problem getting a loan, shops selling first hand usually provide hire purchase, ask around more. or if u decide on a bike you like, there are riding groups in the forum that center around particular bikes, you can ask them for more info and help. (such as where to buy, and good prices)

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/40-SingaporeBikes%E2%80%A2SportsBikes

you if are looking for 2nd hand, maybe others can give u suggestions regarding reloan, heard shops like bikeproduction provide decent reloan for only some models, but u should ask around more, some shops like to cheat foreigners as they are new to the community

you can google these bikes that are avaliable here for 2nd hand sportsbikes

kawasaki krr150

nsr sp 150

aprilla rs125 older model

cagiva mito 125 older model

Honda NSR Hornet 125

Yamaha tzm 150

err i wouldnt reccommend 2nd hand 2b sportsbikes unless you do know how to check its condition, as old sportsbikes are notoriously abused.

also as you are new to singapore, you have to learn about other legalities, such as the requirement for insurance before you can ride, and the different classes of insurance covers avaliable.

yearly inspection for bikes over 3 years of age.

fitment of an IU unit to pay for electronic road tax for road usage for selected roads and timings in singapore.

yearly or half yearly road tax payments per year.

anyway do ask around more if you are unsure , there are helpful people around in the forum.

Not all foreigner are ang moh, could be from China, India, Africa, even outer Space.

As foreigner, to get loan you need guarentor, you will find most bike shops are very insistant for this.

Otherwise be prepared to pay full cash.

Judging from his name, shd b an ang moh.

BUKIT MERAH area has the best shops in Singapore, very friendly motorbike shops.

Btw, if no money and can't afford a bike, dun get a loan. Ride the MRT instead.

hi jake you can google search the bike shops in SG... and you find where are the locations. Most importantly do your homework on the price and the type of fairing bikes that you want.... cheers happy shopping for your ride.
