Hi folks,

just needed some advice. I recently found a small nail embedded in my rear tyre! My first time experiencing this believe it or not. And the bike is only done like 600km!

Can I get some contacts for good tyre repair?

Thks in advance!

First of all, I don't recommend changing a tire after kanna 1 nail - the last time I heard is max 1 plug per quadrant, max 2-3 plugs per tyre. If the worm is plugged properly it can last till the end of life of your tyre, but don't speed too high.

Second, tyre kanna nail has nothing to do with distance - its a heng or sway thingy.

Third, tyre kanna a nail is not 100% means tyre is punctured - if the nail entered the tyre diagonally and not vertically, chances are that the the nail may not go all the way in and hence didn't puncture the tyre. However, if you do not know how to plug a worm into the tyre, go to the bike shop and ask them to pull out the nail for you.

Fourth, go to a bike shop to ask them do for you 1 time, and the next time buy the repair kit and diy. Kit is cheap, about $10 can get one with 5 worms. Process is super easy, just remember to diy at a location where there is air pump to charge tyre. Don't assume you will kanna only once :), so better learn it.

You can buy a mushroom kit from Hodaka that can repair tubeless tyres

But technically you should change the tyre, even more so if it is a front tyre

If your tyre thread is still new, go to workshop and ask them to patch from inside. It may take a while but will last longer than patch from outside. Of cos more expensive.

yeap just did that.......$25....but the amount of work he had to do..worth every penny...

If you are riding a superbike, then if the tyre has been compromised, then it must be changed.

Only on my last trip to Malaysia, one super bike the rear tyre thread peel off as the rider is doing high speed. He is very damm lucky, he can bring the bike under control and sustain no injury.

As well as the damage do to the rear of his bike, he have to pay a tow fee back to Singapore, then replace the tyre. I am sure his repair bill is like $1500!!!!

Don't play play with tyre safety, they are the only thing between you and the road.

If you want to avoid a nail in the tyre then, avoid,

Riding next to the kerb, left side or right side when squeezing through traffic, can always find nails at the kerb side.

At the centre of most traffic light junctions, especially those near industrial areas, there is always a pile of debris. Avoid riding across this debris

Riding on not very busy roads near large construction sites. Or riding in areas where construction workers have been unloading, unpacking crates, or assembling items that require nail and screws.

Be mindful when riding through the HDB factories, especially those units making furniture or wooden items. Especially as those outdoor theatres and pasir malan.are been constructed.

In case you are having one with inner tube and are are planning on a long trip. Make sure you change the tyre, as you do not if there any damage internally that your eyes can't see. My last long trip cost me about 4-5 roadside repairs. Definite bummer......
