wearing is caused by friction (rubbing) on 2 surface n the less harden surface will wear faster than the other....

so it depends on wat chain n wat spocket u using.... might not need to change the whole set...

the sound is coming from the chain stiffen (some joint cannot move) or if the chain look ok it might be over tighten.... over tighten chain will give sound too...

hope this helps.....

Usually I will just change the front spocket and constantly maintaning the chain. I prefer to use the engine oil to lubricate the chain by just using a small brush and paint over the chain once in a while and then wipe off the excess oil. Your chain will look as good as new again after that treatment. With care and proper PM on your chain, it could last you for about 3 years or more.

actually, you can see if the teeth is still running good.

The teeth of the sprocket should be blunt and thick. If you noticed that the tip and the middle of the teeth's body is about the same thickness (or thin"ness"), then that means the sprocket has worn out.

Changing to non-oring chain at $65, might as well stick to using back the old one. LAB is selling EK gold X-ring at $85. Rem, don't get the RK-M.

Woe there bro... mine was like yours last November... My tots are exactly like yours.. Only noise and unsmooth ride.. if can ride, still can use..

But then came the unevitable.. My chain snapped while taking a bend. And the impact of the chain flying our of the sprocket made a hole on my left side of my hugger.. Called for tow truck and went to K&T for an affordable new chain, the cheapest they have cos that time no $$.

Just pray your chain wun snap like mine did lah.. if not, troublesome..

:goodluck:

PS: It would help after u wash, go and tighten ur chain as well...

might be your front spocket going liao too with the chain. I just chg my front, rear and chain today the feel is really different and i look at my old spocket the teeths some teeths looks a bit out of shape liao. I rode 1 year liao which your mentioned condition move always got the 'wang...wang' sound and the chain very noisy and always thought the chain wasn't lubricate enuff.

From the outlook my chain still looks very new cos i clean it weekly with petrol and oil it but internally when the mech show me the chain pins looks like showing wear and age of use liao.

sound from the chain normally means a loose chain of a worn out chain/spocket.... tighten the chain if the sound still there.... time to change.

the chain is suppose to sit nicely on the spocket..... go to your rear spocket after tightening the chain try to move the part of the chain sitting on the spocket... if it can move alot means time to change the spocket too....

dun wait for the chain to snap.... :giddy:

hope this helps..........

O ring? I changed to a DID O ring Chain and original front/rear sprocket(Honda original) in Spore for less than $200 if not wrong.

Sharing one of my experience:

Last time riding RXZ, changed chain(DID but not O ring) and sprocket in JB, less than a year later, chain snap while riding at abt 60-70km/h on normal straight (not uphill or downhill) near Jurong Port Road.

Chain got entangled in the rear wheel, wheel jam, luckily managed to stabilise the bike in upright position until it comes to a stop, lucky no vehicle behind me. Initially tot piston jam, but its the chain tat snap. Swingarm abit chip off and no major damaged.

My advise to you, don't play2 when changing chain and sprocket. Make sure you get the best and reliable one.
