Rust is not a reversible process. That process can only treat surface rust. Overtime, the rust from within will spread to the surface.

If your tank is rusty, there are two solutions :

- buy a new tank

- Keep your tank filled with petrol at all times, and installed a good fuel filter between the petcock and carb

rust can never be removed without sanding or scrapping it off. without physical contact with the rust, there's just no way to remove it. those "magic water" that they claim mainly uses a technique which it "carbonized" the rust that makes the rust harden n thus protect the metal under to some extent. however it's not a permanent solution, the metal will still be "eaten" away, only the process is slowed down.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

electrolysis..works best...

vinegar can do what your magic water can do...dont believe?? get a rusty nail or object ..soak it in ..overnight its done..save , easy and cheap..

this is for rust removal...not protection..

Anw, here are the links regarding abt how to do the "Electrolysis Method"

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorbikes/70515-fuel-tank-rust-removal-electrolysis-rust-proofing.html

electrolysis is a long process, n it must be done carefully, esp the current. not recommended if u're not familiar with electronic stuff. usually electolysis is done in a plastic container, so do take note that ur tank is metal. n take extreme care not to get urself shocked.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Try not to smoke or put naked flame near it.. Electrolysis makes hydrogen.. Highly flamable..

Anw, i tried the Vinegar stuff.

i made two seperate experiments,

Method 1 - Pure concentrate vinegar soak with a half rusty long screw.

Method 2 - Vinegar + Sodium baking soda soak with a half rusty long screw.

** This is just a soaking process. Not using the electrolysis method**

This process takes abt 24hrs bt results,

Method 1- only a bit of the rust part came off..

Method 2- Seems like no respond !

Overall, still rusty ! Haiyaa...

I will try soak it for 48hrs .. ... ....

electrolysis..

so..did the vinegar do what is doing..

vinegar is a mild acid..it should pickle your rusty stuff overnight....but if rust is terrible do a electrolysis.

watch out for all the goo that is being produced..unless u intend to repaint the tank..

Baking soda not as powerful as salt.. Try salt instead bro... Put the whole bottle instead.. I use car battery to perform this test.. For the nail, too small.. I use metal rod.. Huge one.. Process takes about few hours.. Did this on rxk tank.. Right after derust, straight away put kreem.. Dont let it rest more than an hour. Cos the rust will come back very fast due to bare metal.. Flash rust..

one of the issue of pratical sportsbike i read taught how to de rust an old tank.

it involve removing the tank, filling the tank with cleaning liquid, and then adding stones (aquarium kind) and then shaking it about to remove the rust withnin.

thats the basic rundown la, shall see if i can dig out in my stack of magazine or online.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)
