Hi folks,

I'm a new owner of a 2012 FZ16, bought it second hand direct from previous owner. Recently I had an intermittent problem when the engine doesn't start - either electric or kick start also don't work - no sound or anything at all when i use electric or kick start, completely dead. Lights and signal working though. I had to move the engine kill switch on the right handlebar down until i see the red engine light, then when i use electric or kick start I hear the engine cracking up, the red engine light disappears and the engine stays alive for about 10seconds and then die off on its own. I also tried using the left handlebar's choke start, but it did not help also.

 

On another day, without doing anything else I don't have any issues with electric start at all.

 

Any idea where the problem could be?

I Google around, found that Kucay rack for fz16 Depends on bike Gen, how do I know my fz16 is which gen?

Recently i have a issue with the sound, at the rear "kiat kiat kait", i had same issue a year ago but resolved by changing the Chain and Sprocket. Now this issue is back but the mechanic said the Rear Tyre Rim hole (bearing hole) is faulty, that why there is sound. Now i need to change the rim, will cost about $280. Not sure if the sound is becoz of Chain, Sporcket or Rim. Just afraid to commit to spend 200+ and the problem still exists.

 

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you

Which workshop did you go to? It's better to go around and compare prices when doing such 'big jobs'

Is it noisy when it is spinning at low speed or high speed?

Its noisy mostly from start moving, but i cant hear well when its moving fast. Normally i do it at As Phoon, the dealer where i bought the bike. So far they have been helpful n kind.

Just manage to find out that, there is weird sound only when i throttle up. But, when the bike is moving, i release the throttle completely, there is NO weird (kiat kiat kiat) sound.

 

In past, when there was chain or Sprocket problem, normally the weird sound happens only during slow down or stopping.

 

This time around, its totally opposite.

my FZ16 also got sound during speed up... but not "kiat kiat kiat", its something like "klak klak klak".

but it wont sound all the time, only some times...

 

anyone have any idea whats that? is it chain too long?

Better to tighten chain first, if problem persist, better to check if sprocket Or chain spoilt

Hi guys, my bike seems to have a popping/choke sound from the engine area when I was trying to move off from a traffic stop. The feeling is like no fuel go into the engine when you throttle. rpm doesn't go up or accelerate either and bike stalls afterwards. Any idea what seems to be the problem ? Happen quite a few times already.

I'm riding the Gen2 (with kickstart n metal pillion bar) On wet surface, it spray water up.. a lot.

Above show, the newer FZ16 rear fender can be bought n fix to the older FZ16.

 

I've fixed on to my fz. It reduce the water spray.. The fender i bought at $15

There is this mud splash guard thing that can be installed directly to the swingarm of the bike.

 

That could be another alternative to this water splashing too much issue for older gen bikes.

Hahahaha. Tough choice bro. If not enough cash better not. Most importantly is to manage a good finance. Cause once you get the bike, you'll surely want to do lots of thing to it. More money.
