mine too.. however, if u can change fast, the sound will not be there. once clutch in, u straight away kick up, think the sound is due to the difference in the speed of the different gears engaging each other.

hope this helps.

yes yes that is true

change fast no more loud tuck sound liao...mine first 3 gears also like that

btw i m riding a version S..so maybe not oin vtec 2 has this 'prob'

UNHAPPY with shell?

Something to ask..

Anyone had installed the slider on ur S4? If having crashbar on,izzit alrite to install it or the crashbar will be good enuff?

Btw,which will u install 1st? Revtec or the slider?

If given me a chance, I would not choose any choice of yours. Crash bar will be more effective than Slider for road bike. Slider r usually install on Sportbike cos if install crashbar on a fairing bike, tat could be very ugly.

first you must find out where the sound came from. There is too many places that has the sound like the brake and then fork also the wheel bearing. So get the correct place. ok

Go and test and find out first

hi,

intend to get a S4 after passing my class 2A. just want to find out what are the differences between the various SPEC? ie SPEC 1, 2, 3, Version S etc etc.

thanks

Vtec 1-3 got Vtec technology to give u the extra push on certain RPM(i think correct lah hor if i uses this term) Version S and below dont have such Technology...however..its all on Budget wise..V.S PB1 V.R is all mostly 10 years old bike and renewed their COE mostly...consider ur budget or so on.THere are many bros who advise if u intend to get ur Class2 after a year...do consider to get a cheaper 2A bike first for not to lose out much when u need to upgrade to ur Class2 bike.....

Tips and Tricks

when buying second hand bike (Super 4)

1) Switch on the bike

Take note:

a) Total Mileage (High Mileage indicates high usage)

b) Electronics working well

- Horn

- Headlight High and Low beam

- Signal lights

- Pilot lights

- Rear and brake lights

- Battery/Rectifier (Ask the mech show u on Multimeter that the battery DO gets recharged properly and the voltage shows the correct value at the appropriate timings)

c) Start the engine

Keep a hearout for:

- Loud Metal Tingling sound coming from the engine (If yes, leave)

- Listen to the engine sound and compare them before and after you clutch-in

(there shouldn't be any extra sound after you clutch-in)

- Rev the throttle:

Take Note the rpm should go up and down smoothly and the needle does not jump up and down very obviously when idling. If yes, indications of the need to wash the carb and do tuning.($$)

2) Look for signs of accident

a) Balancers - original? scratches? if not original ask the bike shop open to see got the bone inside the handlebar or not. If no bone, there is a risk the bike did get involve in an accident before or not original handlebar :nono:

b) Parts to look out for scratches - (to know accident history)

i) Side Mirrors

ii) Balancers

iii) Headlight Casing

iv) Crash Bar

v) Engine Cover

vi) Side Indicator Lamps

vii) End can - any dents, rewrap? There must be a reason.

3) Wear and Tear Parts: (Calculate how much if u were to replace them) ($$)

i) Tyres - check the threads at the edges as well as the centre

ii) Spocket teeth - check if they are already sharp, which indicated the need to change

iii) Chain slack and swingarm adjustment level - see how far more can the chain be tightened

iv) Cone bearing(If not sure bring a knowledgable fren)

v) Suspension - see which level is it adjusted to. Sit on the bike and feel if the spring is still strong or already weak. Most impt check if the suspension is the original SHOWA

vi) Brake Disc - Push the bike forward and back, ensure no sound coming from the front and rear brake pads. If yes, brake DISC may be warped. $$

vii) Brake Pads - Check the thickness (Not sure ask your knowledgable fren)

4) Money Matters

Tell the shop the things you noted that needs replacing. See if they can replace for you. If not, you have to add the replacement costs to the price of the bike. Ask the shop to change EO and spark plug.

Instalment

Dun be fooled by the monthly instalments. Don't be lazy, borrow their calculator and calculate urself how much are you paying in the end inclusive of interests.

Hope the above more or less be a rough guideline. Anyone is welcomed to add-on to the above. Just remember one rule: DON'T RUSH

Q1 Balancer - the rounded thing at the edges of your handlebar left and right.

Original condition: Secured by a long allen screw into the bone which is inside the handlebar.

NOT original condition: Can be twisted right off the handlebar cos its only secured by a rubber thing inside cos the handlbar no bone inside.

Q2. err.. difficult to explain with words.

Q3. there are two knobs at the clutch lever there which u can adjust the foreplay. Maybe you trying playing around with that? Or you can also try to lube ur cable. One point at the lever there and another is the above the clutch plate casing on the right hand side.

Q4 i dun get what u mean by the gauge to inspect the chain and spocket. Best is you go to another workshop other than the workshop u bought it from and ask for a 2nd opinion since u already bought it.
