Always heard about the 6mm shim installation on the rear suspension,

anyone knows why to do this mod (which motodiam) how much does it cost ?

Anyone had done it by DIY?

I'm thinking of putting this 6mm shim onto my rear suspension, does anyone has any idea?

 

Hope that you'll can organise some kopi session.

It is good to know each other better first b4 going any further.

Question on the getting to know session before going out.. hehe like go out with girl on first date like that. anyways there is always a meet up session once every two weeks but the problem is we like to keep our birds in cages so everytime attendance not so good... me included tooo hehe. So we've met people some time or another but never meet every one at once... so make full use of the time, sometime the first time we meet is the first time we go out can't be helped but honestly all the people I've met are generally a good bunch of people.

 

As for the second question on the 6mm shims or spacers or washers. Well I've done it before. Went to Sanfu and had it done then. If you want to do it DIY you can definitely try but I tell you it is definitely not easy.. basically what they do is to put a jack below your frame slightly after your suspension section, lift up the bike, tank included and then add the shims/spacers in between your suspension and the joint to the frame of your bike connecting to the top part. Very labor intensive for one person, can take anywhere between an 30 mins to one hr.

 

Good for people who are generally taller, it allows you to corner easier and your riding position is slightly more comfortable, bad news , bike becomes higher so centre of gravity increases. Fastest I went was 230km/h with no problems (the reason never go faster, balls not hard enuf hehe). An alternative is to lower you front forks, pros, allows easier cornering and for shorter people, no need to tiptoe. cons riding position becomes slightly like a sportsbike and in long distance don't know whether comfortable( haven't tried long distances in that position yet). Your turning ratio is decreased as you wheelbased is reduced because of the lowering of the forks.

 

With this in mind you decide.. generally putting in spacers or gives advantages to the bike handling, I have tried both and the advantage is increased handling. Any other possible detrimental side effects have yet to be identified hehe (havent noticed any so I don't know ya). So you decide, maybe if you're adventurous enough we can meet up one day and discuss further? PM me or just come down during our next meetup. Hope this helps
