Wat is wax unit?

The wax unit works like an autochoke...When cold, the wax unit will contract, opening up the idle valve bigger thus increasing idle speed, when the coolant heats up,the wax unit will expand, closing the idle valve and reducing the idle.

Its good to have this working,it warms up the engine faster, eliminates the knocking sound when idling cold and also reduce the foul emission smell you get when idling cold..

Yes bro protected by HISS...but if the thief comes prepared, the whole bike also gone..but so far our bikes are not hot stuff compare to the new generation sportsbikes...:thumb:

Will affect as the mapping will be too rich or lean at certain rpm and throttle position. PC3 with a good custom mapping will even out the air/fuel ratio thus giving you more throttle response, better fuel consumption and more hp..

sweeeeee! thanks!

and btw....how many of u actually using the brake de-link kit?

I've delink mine...Its best also you upgrade to bigger front master pump(Brembo 19mm) as the stock pump piston bore is too small (12.5mm). How the bike feels after that is totally different when braking.

I am running on delink kit also.. but its is quite lousy, cause my setup of delinking is using all 6 front piston. For that i gotta use a bigger bore pump (ie 19x 20 or 19 x 18) to make my braking more effective... forgot to mention i am on delink with hel brake hose.. but on stock brake pump. haha.

hmm wax unit? u mean FI bbs' all got auto choke function? my bike is '04 model and i notice got no auto choke leh... does it means mine is faulty? Hmmm.. how do i get about to get this fixed? Roughly the cost? and whats the stuff involved apart frm the wax unit?

and i am damn happy my birdy dont blink or wink at me when i revv hard hard. wahhaha

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng

yea.. mine also with hiss i had a key that can plug in and turn on.. but the hiss program is off.. so all i am getting is the bike can crank.. but it wont crank to live even when u keep opening the throttle.

While in the midst of restoring my bird in its riding glory, fixing the bike was fun and also exhaustive.I also not been spared by the 25 blinks, but something miracle happen after i crank up my bike.Revved it til 11000 RPM,was hoping to see the 25 blinks but no have lei......took the bike for a spin at my werk area goin above 3k RPM (thats where the FI light will come) still no sign.My bike starts with the Fi diagnostic like other BB so the Fi is werking in order.Which leaves me wondering, mebbe we need to *knock the sense out of the ECU* aka crash it to eliminate the Fi...wahahahahahahaahaha..Juz joking ah.....dun go crashing ur bike juz to rid teh FI coz the cost of repairing ur bike is as same of getting a new ECU....

hey greysnail, i saw ur nick on the bbinternational forum.. u got change your wax unit before? Upon many googling, i found a pict of the wax unit.. seems like it is connected to the idling adjusting cable? u trace that cable it will lead to a component that looks like a water pump.. I think thats teh wax unit? can anyone verify?

wow...seems that the 25 blinks is back....its normal for all FI bb....the ecm can only last around 7 to 9 yrs when the bike is produced...i've changed mine..and its back to normal...u might wanna rectify the KS first..check the continuity of the current flow..errm try to connect another wire from the KS to ecm and reset the code...change KS is not really recommended coz it will cost u extra...it depends oso...some bikes its really the KS prob...what ive experience is the blink came..den i change KS check wiring and everything...results are still the same...the manual state "If problem persist...change new ECM and repeat steps"....the ECM is really costly...but its worth the performance...den u can get around 300km den reserve for ur petrol...guys...do check ur wiring to ur FI light...i heard some shops they bastero...they modify the wiring so that the light wont come out if theres a prob...thats when u get ur BBs to drink ur petrol and heavy on the throttle...the ecm now is out of stock i guess...coz i took the last piece...maybe u can get FJT to order for u...but it will take damn long for it to reach here...gd luck..cheers!

I used to be on the stock pumps, until one day i almost kissed onto a car changing lane abruptly...Straight away after work i went to unique to get my brembo's. Now got more confidence in braking...

As for the autochoke, you maybe need to adjust it. There's 2, 6mm's nut that needs to be adjusted during cold. Set it to 1800rpm when cold. When warmed up at 70degrees(coolant temp) the idle should drop to 1100(+- 50rpm)...

The wax unit is located under the tank near the fuel rail.To access it u nid to lift the tank up and remove the fuel rail.

U need a vice grip coz the screws are really tight.i didn't remove the whole unit juz the back side, washed the ends and gave the wax unit a gd scrub.U'll be surprised how dirty it is.When putting it back, make sure the so called firing pin as aligned coz the back end of the pin or actuator is fabricated to sit in a slot,if u never fix it properly u'll get a high rev instantly.Gd luck and also prepare lots of swearing & handyplast if u have big hands.......:)

But it helps to protect the rear shock from dirt kicked by the rear wheel...
