If one is smacking into car mirrors, that simply implies poor judgement and/or bike control.

What is so difficult about NOT lane splitting when the gap is too small for comfort? Some idiots go the extent of horning and reving their engines aggressively to get cars to create room in bumper to bumper traffic. I mean, if there is a gap, good and well. Else, just WAIT IN LINE!!!

It also does not help there are other idiots who insists on squeezing their way to the front just beside the kerb, and making the left turn TOGETHER with a left turing car IN THE SAME LANE!!!

Other idotic antics include lane splitting while 2 cars are making a turn, tailgating 1m behind cars, lane splitting at breakneck speeds in slow moving traffic, lane splitting at warp speeds in fast moving traffic.

Please, spare me about the "them-vs-us" arguments. Frankly, it's getting old and stale. Sure, some car drivers are equally idiotic. Sadly, many riders are equally guilty in "enforcing" bad image of bikers.

Couldn't agree with you more.

There is always the nonsense about how if you're on a bike, you should never have to wait behind cars. I felt the pressure in the first month or two of being on the road, but now I'm like to hell with riders who are going to judge me for being cautious. I'll only split when I'm comfortable with it (generally when there is a wide enough gap for a fully stress-free split).

I just cannot understand why some bikers still insist on squeezing past you even though you're already in between two cars. Some people are really in too much of a hurry these days.

Filtering is something you do at your own risk. I don't give a damn what people think of riders, you already have 'bike experts' in the media that don't even have a 2b license.

It make sense if you're some sort of courier, more deliveries more money hence the need to travel in jams quickly and none other gets you there quicker than a bike.

Some places are too tight to lane split, ie a section at Lornie Road and the section at ECP MBS area.

Best if not to split there, sure tio mirrors if you are not careful.

nobody consider the situation where your box hit onto the window/mirror..?

If SOMETHING / ANYTHING from your bike hits another vehicle, it can only mean 2 things:

1. too tight to squeeze, but went ahead nonetheless. Idiot rider.

2. poor riding and estimation skills. Idiot rider.

i feel that if u r not 'speeding' in between cars.. and u knock onto someone else mirror.. personally the damage is not so much.. so just give the drive a smile and move off.. they cant do much to u also cause they are stuck in the car...

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?

Gotto agree with ohayo, really makes you look like a damn clown if u knock onto someone's mirror. No offense, but from what i've seen Malaysian kup bikers are really terror in coming out with these stunts..

Did some of you come across occasions whereby your the 1st bike that squeezes and there are like 3-4 bikes behind following u, makes you feel stress? then if you know u cant squeeze through u just stop and the bikers behind like stressing you? =x i felt like that sometimes haha!~

I always come across drivers who like to stop their cars during traffic jams in line with the next car mirror (ear to ear ) even when there are loads of space in front. There was once a car did this, i squeezed in and i saw the gf feeding him with finger food. They got frightened when I tapped the car window and quickly drove one side n let me pass...I hate drivers who muti task when driving.

They dont owe it to you to move aside.

Precisely. In fact, we weren't even suppose to squeeze traffic but keep in line. Defensive riding is all you need to survive in Singapore's road etiquette.

Yes they do! when they have 2 car length of space in front of them....

yes i know .. following behind a car is not defensive riding either! I do not want to be in front of a car when it failed to brake for whatever reason.

Defensive riding isn't about riding behind a vehicle, than again in your reference, squeezing in-between traffic is definitely a "safe" moment for you. Cheers

That's unnecessarily harsh. If you're smacking into mirrors while lane splitting, the remedy is to stop splitting until you've got more confidence/familiarity with riding, or alternatively don't lane split at all. The answer isn't to stop riding altogether.

It's neither harsh nor unnecessary.

Dont read it literally, please.

this time it's a mirror, the next could be an immovable object.

Yes, dont lane split, just ride in lane until one has enough skills (that is if one survives to get to that stage, hehe)

Well I will say you did not read carefully heh heh. I repeat ... I will not stay in line if the traffic has come to stand still. If all the bikes in singapore behave like a car it will take me hours to reach home. Incidentally that is what the UK bikers did when they protest against the govt for implementing bike tax whenever bikers enter city area. During that period, every wednesday, bikers will ride in line to the cbd area causing jams, traffic was so bad that office workers were all late for work for hours when they took public transport. And pls dun say you NEVER squeeze between cars when you are approaching a traffic light junction.
