I agree to the comment to certain extent.

I feel that at 140 - 160km/h sudden brake will experience some floating.

I personally dun feel safe.

I always advocate that we should only go as fast as we are confident of the safe brake power.

 

Realised why ppl say SW is a 'light' tourer...

 

too slow to join those trips for 2A above becos only very comfortable (and smooth) up to 130km/h+. 140-160km/h the windblast so strong and bike seems to float a bit. hmm, or is it just me (old man fear of speed) feeling this way?

 

and... too big cc to be considered a 2B.

i share this same feeling too... keen to join encik pat and company for their regular trips (they went port dickson today) but after looking at their bikes, i felt paiseh to slow them down coz i prefer not to go above 130km/h

 

Encik Pat and Co travels at spped manageable for our Wings..

 

Went with them for outings twice liao..

Probably becos me not get used to travel at speeds too high.

Always worried that I may hinder the group if most are bigger bikes.

 

Anyways, will try to join some of the rides when time permits.

Must bring my bike for longer trips... Genting, Ipoh or Penang!!!

 

Just to share a bit as i m quite tall and do a lot of my rides along malaysian highways. Yes the wind noise and buffeting around the helmet does get BAD above 130Kmph !! But it does help to have a pair of ear plugs (the swimming type will do) and a better helmet - e.g a Shoei or AGV full face. I also use a BALACLAVA over my head when i m riding late at night. Otherwise i found that just by sitting as far back on the seat as possible and crouching down slightly the noise and buffeting does clear up considerably. Like riding in total silence.

 

That was why i was asking around for helmet mounted speakers and BLUETOOTH MP3 to keep me company. Carrying a pillion does help for stability but i pity the pillion rider have to sit 'kang kang' for such long periods. Just in case you ride with pillion make sure tyre pressures correct and check when cold. Otherwise tyre wear very severe.

the riding was great... and i really enjoyed the upsized A&W root beer float, the chicken wings could be better though

we started the trip meeting at gp esso with everyone (2x SWing, 1x tmax, 1x fz6) arriving on time. except for a short drizzle at the beginning (our friend rode without jacket and remained dry) and a stop-by to check for directions, the journey was smooth and cool. best of all, speed along the long stretch of taman mutiara rini was ~80km/h... can't ask for anything more leisurely

 

in case you wanna go and need directions... here's the route with trip-meter distances (from gps):

0.0km = set-off from GP esso, north along E3

3.7km = exit left at GP exit, go straight along road till T-junction

6.5km = turn right at T-junction into J4 GP, go straight

8.3km = go under bridge (E3), go straight

10.3km = go under bridge (KE2), go straight till X-junction

13.4km = turn right at X-junction (after polis stn on left), go straight till T-junction

17.1km = turn left at T-junction into Utama P/Kebangsaan 68, go straight till T-junction

19.2 km = turn right at T-junction into Kebudayaan J, go striaght till have to turn left L-junction

20.3 km = turn left (no choice), go straight along Kebudayaan J till T-junction

20.5 km = turn left at T-junction into Pendikan J, filter right

20.8 km = turn right at traffic junction into Perdagangan J (can see A&W)

20.9 km = A&W Taman Uni (next to Petronas station)

no lah... where got time to note down trip logs, distances of each leg are from GPS

 

my GPS is the old fashion type, using my old Eten m600 PDA + BT GPS receiver...
