Good News ! Bad News ! Always got something to Gripe about !

Anyway Guys & Gals with SWs i must share what info i heard from others and my personal experiences - It seems that the coil problem is linked to battery condition - if the battery is defective (normally after about 2 to 3 years of Abuse) the charge from the coil would leak backwards if cannot be absorbed by the battery and FRY your coil windings or Insulation wrapping.

Battery abuse - this normally refers to those "Maintenance Free" batteries which get shorted out by dirt or rain or not enough charging time during normal use. By charging time means at least a 20km run at above 4,000 RPM each time you ride the bike. Idling the bike for long periods (especially like in causeway quees) is really bad for both cooling and charging system. Take Heed OK i Kenna already on 3 different bikes.

This is true.

My battery was weak even after the coil change. You can see it when you on the ignition switch and when starting the bike, the fuel gauge will "reboot".

Today riding after the coil change, bike power was exceptionally strong, fuel gauge did not "reboot" during bike start. Looks like the bike battery was back to normal..

Hmm, looks like I may need to change the battery as a precaution.

guys i jz received LTA transfer letter of my SWing. The letter stated my wing's production year is 2007. omg. i remembered very clearly the sales guy at MAH told me it's a 2009 model.

thanks a lot, guys for answering my questions. really appreciated it.

Now I have another question. When I received my bike (and until now), I feel my bike is has more weights to the right when I ride. thus slanting to the right. I went back to MAH and the mech said all new SWing bikes's steering cone are tighter but will get loosen after sometimes and bike will go normal after tat. i am not sure how long is the "after sometimes". is it true? is there any remedy to the situation? thanks.

if very sure they told you you're buying a 2009 model, you should go back there and demand an explanation (or some compensation)... no need to "F" them but be firm. better still if you have something written by them mentioning the purchase is for a 2009 model.

if they admit error due to overlook or whatever, ask them for compensation; don't think can get cash back but probably in the forms of waiver for maintenance/EO/filters, etc. otherwise, tell them you will report to CASE and write to newspaper to publicise their unethical sales practice. technically, this amounts to a misrepresentation and the contract could be called void if you can prove the purchase is for a 2009 model, else its your words against theirs. note that some shops won't be bothered unless you have written proof, they'll simply claim you heard wrongly

FYI, many motortiams sell their old stocks at a discounted price o_O

p/s: amended to correct my bad understanding as pointed out by bigcow... it is possible to buy 09 models in 08 :sorry:

And along with it. . . . . . the traffic jams!!!! :faint:

For those who were around between 1961 to 1973 and actually went to or took part in the GP (i did both) they will remember that the crowds all went home after the bike races and before the car races started --- !!

Whats the point of going there (unless you are an overseas visitor or die hard F1 fan) with all the restrictions :- No parking, no outside food & drinks, no bags, no musical instruments (air horns included), No smoking and getting stuck at one corner where you see the cars for split seconds only.

Better stay at home (or some lounge) and watch it on TV.

Ahh YES YES YES...... just got my darling Swing this evening @ 6pm... initially, was abit worry to ride it. Told myself just go slow & steady, still got the habit of pressing the left lever thinking it's the clutch and my left foot trying to engage the gear. Smiling & laughing at myself during the ride home. Feel real good riding my darling. Looking forward to riding it again tomorrow.

By the way guys, is it normal for the temp gauge to be at halfway mark & when the engine is off, I can hear the fan blowing....

Got the new IU unit for the bike... :)
