Anyone installed audio system to their SW? Is it necessary to cut into the plastic to install the speaker?

As for the final drive oil, is it recommended to use 10w40 oil? SO that means our leftover fully-synthetic engine oil can be used to replace it rite, no need to buy additional gear oil?

Anyone help me with this question? :(

Cos i think the service manual states use 10w40 oil for the final drive izzit?

Hi Swingers.... just to clarify with regard to the initial servicing... will the bike shop do any fine tuning other then just change the engine oil? If just changing the engine oil, I prefer to do it myself. Thanks & cheers. Go Go Silverwing..... :)

i do not see any other bike shops that does any tuning when people go change their engine oil.

Valve Clearance job on the SW not a simple job as a lot of tupperware & other bits got to come off and most mechanics (not only in Singapore but US & Uk as well) very reluctant to do. That why the factory seems to have taught about this and made this almost unnecessary unless you really TRASH your engine at high revs very frequently.

From my previous experience on an earlier SW, which went over 100,000 Kms, this was still within service tolerances. I only did the adjustments when i rebuilt the engine with new Valve Springs, cam chain etc and after i had the cylinder head GAS FLOWED.

Stick to the regular maintenance schedule and items in your manual and use the correct oils & fluids and you should have no problems. Items that will wear out, apart from the tyres, are mainly brake pads, shock absorbers, wheel bearings, CVT Belt & Rollers/variators and sometimes the steering bearings. Oh yes and Batteries every two years or so. But most of these items only come every 20 to 25 thou KM or so.

Yup.

Just use the leftover when you change the EO and oil filter.

Engine needs (with filter change) = 2.2L

Final drive = 0.32L (320ml)

Bike haven't complete running in don't need tuning de.

Performance before and after (above 2k) a lot of difference.

You might want to get the mec to check the FI balancing/synchronising when you do the next full EO & spark plug change after running in.

No need tune too often.

HEy Thanks Kris Rider..... cos i heard the wonders it does to some other bikes in terms of consumption.... so wondering if it would help....

Kinda suspect its a matter of tuning since when i chnage the spark plugs, saw that they were super black, eveident that the bike is running a little rich.... but then again... no clue on how to tune it back.... where did u do ur engine rebuilt????

thanks

when do we have to change the final drive oil? every how many x KM?

Manual actually states replace every 2 years, so i think a rough guide should be every 20-30k km.

Thanks for the info SW9000.... I think I will do the 1st & 2nd oil change by myself. The 3rd oil change, will be at the bike shop & let them decide whether any tuning needed. Mileage is still around 500+ km. Thanks again man. Go Go Silverwing...... :)

Black soot on the plugs indicate RICH setting on the FI - at worst you need your mech to check / retune them when you change your plugs - which should be iridium if you want better performance. The way they do it is to use vacuum gauges and better still if they have full DYNO set up. Otherwise get a POWER COMMANDER and install with the correct mapping.

I mostly do my own rebuilds as i have been dissapointed / cheated once to often. But that requires all the correct tools, patience and space, not to mention a good manual.

On the other hand your air filter may be damp or clogged - replace ASAP.
