Bike Stolen in Msia

Think ok to go in pump fuel and come back to singapore immediately, everything is safe when you reached singapore customs.

guys keep a lookout even when in singapore, malaysia is obviously more risky, but DO NOT let your guard down just because it's singapore.

 

Singapore of today has changed, heard of a few cases of bike thefts in Singapore recently, in various different regions, not just one...Marsiling, Ang Mo Kio etc...

 

nor to mention the recent news of bikes on fire in Hougang...

Seems like Johor is still a hot place for motorbike thief. My honda CB400 (white) FR125H was just stolen on this Monday at Jln Sutera 3, Taman Sentosa, Johor. It was parked at a open motorcycle public parking lot. Lots of vehicle traffic and people and in broad daylight at 3.30pm. Within 1 hour, it was gone even though I was in a shop just infront of my bike.

sometime when i go to malaysia, i put additional 3 padlocks:cheeky: my friends think i am super kiasu and make fun of me. we parked our bike side by side each others, the padlocks i used are pretty robust and it should not be easy to defeat in a short time and the main purpose of the additional padlocks is hope that the thief will go for the easier target. well... that i didn't tell my friends:angel: let them think i am kiasu. i won't hope any sleep over it. haha...

Yes, if we still want to go to Johor on bike, we should think of securing the bike that makes it more difficult for the thief to steal. It is better to be kiasu than sad.

just read a posting on facebook that one super4 was almost stolen in malaysia. luckily the owner spotted the act in time and manage to stop the thief and he was being arrested. apparently, the thief used some kind of "master key" to unlock the bike.

 

if the owner had used additional locks, the thief might not even go for his bike at the first place. not every "determine thief" use lorry/hydraulic cutter/grinder/drill/42" bolt cutter etc for their operation as some here tend to think. many just pick an easy target as there are plenty around. make it hard enough, they simply move on to the bike next easier one.

 

it not fool proof, but it is a good deterrence.

then it will be lose case for both since u make sure uwont recover ur bike 100% of the times. i'd do a project that ensure its compulsory to install a GPS system in every automobile vehicle in singapore that allows you to track the current whereabouts of your vehicle. this system is install somewhere inside the very core of the engine hence its one of the most difficult part to dissemble, owners can track the location of the vehicle by going to onemotoring site. allows the authorities to track stolen/wanted people owners vehicle too.definitely more useful to the netizen than the shity IU unit, the money sucker of singaporeans for ridiculous reason.

 

as a first world country that is made up of such a small city like singapore with perhaps the richest government in the world, i dont see how is it hard for LTA to do this.

If you look the IU Unit from a different angle, they are doing it. Its called ERP 2.0. It should only work in Singapore only. Overseas you are on your own...No extra income to extract if overseas. Its not LTA's problem to track all vehicles all the time.

 

Anyway those things do exists. Its only if you are willing to pay the monthly subscriptions. No such things as free in this world.

Sometimes I see Msia bike parked in Sg, I like wanna push the bike over. Lol. But of course it's not socially acceptable.

And I often see them with black tinted visor. Like steady only. I hope LTA go extra hard on them Msia riders/drivers in Sg.

i have the same idea too. everytime see them showing off their silencerless kup , reving like its some harley on sg road, and cutting into me with any little salvageable space.. when i was on car. really freaking tempting me to do these stuff.

 

the worse case is, our local tp seems to be very scare of them. local tp would properly catch and summon almost every local silencerless vehicle on sg road. but 80% of malaysian kups have no silencer, and nothing ever seems to be done to this people.

 

their kups are louder than my termi r6.. why is it freaking legal?! -_-

i'm writing to tp one day with a recorded example soon. know a place where this silencerless kups always like to gather for supper. going down there this saturday..

Sorry for the losses dear fellow brothers.

 

Globalization had also infected our neighboring countries, Malaysians in the lower 20% tiers who are unemployed

faces daily survival challenges. Either FT or illegal immigrant, they have families to feed. Similarly, the very reason we

took risks to pump cheap petrol and hunt for budget groceries across the border to to save some penny for

rainy days (i.e. unscheduled over-haul).....

 

Remembered when I got my P-plate in the morning and was in JB in the noon before the inks on my laminated

license was dry lol. Those days; 10years back, vehicular thief was a common thingy. Needless to say in today

social-economic landscape, I am sure that those syndicates had evolved and rooted the network fiercely to target

the "wealthier" Singaporean who can prospectively claim our losses from insurance policies. Yes, there won't be

much of financial loss but logistic and administrative burdens are inevitable. Sometime I do ask my ka-kis, is it

worth the effort for saving maybe

in equivalent, the causeway jam will easily exceed an hour. Why the hassle?

 

Well, that just my thoughts from.., an aged old rider lol. When I rode my ducati into JB for wedding shoots, those

words mentioned earlier had fell on deaf ears lol. I am glad that trouble didn't find me then. End of the day it is

just about choice rite? To know but not to do is not to know

After reading through this thread, I think the highest chance of getting your bike stolen is at KSL, Jalan Sentosa and Sutera Mall cos that are the places that Singaporean like to go frequently. When i visit JB I don't need to bring extra lock but I bring extra cash. LoL.

This is my personal advise and I personally think this are the best. I always try to befriends individual shop around the area that I like to visit. Like car wash, hotel, motorcycle shop, etc..... after that I will park my bike in their vicinity and pay them some coffee money like RM$10 to $20 depending the duration. FYI: I'm not rich but I will rather losing a few dollars then a few thousands right cos i believe you know how to do your maths.. Hope that my personal method can help you. Remember you are in Malaysia and please PAYSAFE.
