Bro, I became a daddy since last Friday. So far all is well. No worries.

and now HKL informed me that the weep hole from the water pump leak coolant..but not excessively....Do I really need to change the waterpump? the whole unit? Is this a common issue with this bike?

I presume u will be going straight to makan via highway. How abt the return route, highway or winding b-roads?

nebulaz > you can ask HKL to check the tee piece under the fuel oil tank which connects the coolent hoses up. The leaks could be from there as you riding a cabby, chances are its deteriorating and creaked.

up to now I can say dat the waterpump is running cos i can see the water flowing on the radiator filler cap....the issue is it will puke from the radiator cap itself cos the pressure is high...can say sumthin is choking inside...physicall inspect of radiator hose looks good....need to check the thermostat and the radiator itself...for now...

 

back to riding my xr650r for da moment....

and if the its the waterpump issue, I would rather change the mechanical seal inside 1st before changing da whole unit...which is more tedious btw....

There might be two possibilities;

 

1) the coolant hoses have cracked or shrunk due to wear and tear. Might require change of a few hoses or whole set. If you have the budget, might want to consider those silicone type ones wic able to withstand higher heat levels.

 

2) second option is to do a coolant flush first. Dis step will help clear clogged tubes by rust and residue particles. Den gota ride the bike ard to heat it up, and see if there any more leaks. Coolant pump seldom a problem. Have u checked the current coolant levels? If overflow, possible to overflow especially if bike is heated from riding.

my coolant pipe leak when i was at malaysia but still manage to ride back home. One thing i notice was when the bike at stop position, the coolant will start to leak, need to top up with water frequently. After moving off, it's ok. When reach sin , i found out that the coolant pipe has actually give way, my water pump exterior was damaged by the coolant and start to corroded...manage to change a new water pump , y- plastic pipe (as mention by jason) and new coolant hose. So far there isn't any after market coolant hose available for varadero.

I will try to. Kulai supper is my (almost) weekly routine. If i go, will be happy to show a long winding way back to shell gp. I love that part of the kulai supper ride.

 

Will be collecting my vara from friend on fri. Added my name to insurance today for only $32. If only cars cost the same to upkeep...

ok update...changed to a used gd radiator cap...no ****ng from the radiator filler cap( so far)..but once stop, can see drops of coolant on da flr....and the misteri continues....

Maybe you radiator itself is leaking with teenie weenie hole.

update.bought the complete set of radiator hoses and connectors including radiator cap...planning to change all..and if can change the seal inside the water pump as well...
