The whole world is growing weak...and I'm not goin to follow them blindly...i like which pipes, i jus install lor, u tink i care, at the end of the day, jus pay lah...Even i tell the world i kana caught also no use, u tink other ppl will help u..??! I still 'lan lan' gota pay the price, then go inspection myself...kaoz...

same as you. the moment i enter the mscp, i switch off the engine and glide the bike to the lot. i am lucky because my mscp is in the basement so can glide down. :thumb:

 

Revving up the engine in a relatively confined space is really loud and may cause deafness in the long run. My ears usually ring for a good 10 minutes after I've parked my bike from a 60 - 80km ride (I'm on quiet baffles). Not to mention a waste of expensive fuel.

and since LTA approved HD to be on SG roads running on US emission standards, why can't they do the same for US branded pipes?

 

exhaust makers are also bounded by emission standards, be it EU or Japan or US. If they don't design/make their exhaust around the standards, nobody will actually wan to buy them. no customer would actually wan to risk getting caught and having to pay a fine. Even FIM have regulations set for exhaust for WSBK and stuffs.

 

So why is LTA practicing double standards on the way they are approving exhaust? Cock way of doing things.

 

Either you ban all makes of aftermarket exhaust, or you screw the rules and allow all.

 

 

FYI, HD international models follow (or closely follow) California state regulation, not the generic 49 state regulation. CA emission laws are very strict and may rival EU ones. Enforcement there is a different story.

 

Accessories that are DOT approved (typically means the other 49 states only) may not meet CA regulation, and therefore not SG regulation either. That's the same issue with Yoshi USA vs Yoshi Japan here. In fact, a lot of the exhausts sold in the US are for closed course use only (at least on paper), i.e. racing. Even the screaming chickens are at most 49 state legal. Don't assume turning a blind eye equates legality, just like Article 377A.

Fat chance. There r rules n regulations adhered to strictly by lta. They will not give in to petitions

hi guys. after reading through this thread. means no legal pipes for hd right?

 

Essentially, if you can identify any Harley on the road based on sound, that bike is using illegal pipe. Period.

Folks, doesnt HD singapore carry screamin eagle pipes? isnt that considered legal? just that they dun sound too loud rite

Nope those screaming chicken pipes are non-legal too. Nothing is legal for harley exhaust.

anyway, received a call from LTA which really didn't go down my throat well on exhaust emission standards.

 

they insist on having:

1. the certification from EU/JMCA. --> no issues with that, definitely do-able

2. technical drawings + installation details --> no issues with that either

3. invoice --> no issues as well

4. emission test results from recognised test(JMCA/EU) --> proprietary information, how to get?

 

i explain in details that even you go for interview with a degree cert, you may not necessary be required to show your transcript. being certified by an international recognised body = good enough.

 

plus LTA confirmed they don't have the testing facilities to do testing and verification, hence all is just based on the papers ALONE.

 

got test papers = approved. no test papers = not approved. what kinda crap is that? :sian:

I was fine by LTA for parking at void deck, its the ppls staying at the block, take pic of my bike and send to LTA, wtf! forgot how much i paid for that but was ard 150. then last month i was stopped by TP on Sat morning 7am along normal road heading out of town direction. I was wearing shirt and look like coming back from clubbing and at this hour to siam roadblocks kind. I think he trying to catch drink riding but i was actually heading home after work. Stop me, ask for my insurance, ownership, driver's license, check with his station, nothing wrong... THEN he look at my helmet, say i never secure my strap properly, kana slap with $120 fine and 3 demerits, WTF! I just got my 2A, only left with 12points, after this left with 9, how to ride!!! its damm stupid for a improperly secure strap...

 

die die have to score a summon kind of patten after stopping a bike lor and i'm the collateral... those uncle with helmets never even pass LTA don catch, catch me never secure strap properly after all those checks... damm sway... my hunch is he want to catch drink driving and he didnt score so not happy!!! )*&*%^^#$%Q%R(*@#$^$^)&(#$$*^%&^*&_

anyways, i understand SE pipes MAY have certification soon...so hold your breath. SEs aren't really loud and sound like crap as compared to some other brands...but at least it's better then stock..

in regards to the exhaust of harley bikes. i remembered posting this somewhere in this forum.

 

i used to own a harley bike and every week kena complaints or "love letters" from the govt claiming my bike is very noisy even though my exhaust is original.

 

i told them why they allow people to buy harley bikes when the bike itself is already very noisy. they claimed they received alot of complaints from my neighbours. i told them i passed all the inspection and they have no reason to send me "love letters".

 

my neighbours every time see me will tell me my bike is their alarm clock as it always kept them awake. i can tell they sort of not very happy with the loud noise of harley bikes.

 

end up i decided to sell my bike to avoid all this and get a car where my family can use. i also dun have to camp under bridge when the weather gets unfavourable for riding.

its confirmed that they are clamping down on all Harley bikes, wad models makes no difference... who ride it makes no difference... bottom line is... they see one they catch one... thanks to those people who voted them and give them all the power to do so. As wad people said... take their own c*** knock their own head. So for those people who voted them, keep you mouth shut and don't complaint.

some of us have to be considerate. just dont over rev at night or in multi storey car parks where your sound can disturb residents. when i went to pay my summmon, the lady told me they did receive complaints of loud bikes at night.

 

we shall not stress our concern on other bikes. just concentrate on our bikes.

 

anyway, the fine for exhaust is always $500, irregardless of how many times you are stopped. the LTA officer told me.

 

They can also come to your car park, take photo of your bike and exhaust, and send you letter for inspection. if you fail the inspection, $500 is out of your pocket.

 

So lets not give anyone the opportunity to donate money to the govt. i'd rather give it to the needys or the orphange.
