They need a recognized TUV cert that comes with the pipes. No cert no approve. If you can get some aftermarket exhaust that comes with a TUV cert which would state that the particular pipe is made for your particular make of your bike, you can actually submit the papers (TUV cert, receipt, letter by yourselve to request for inspection or something else, check with LTA) to LTA...once approved you can fix on your bike and go for inspection, where inspection centre will endorse on the TUV cert. Doesn't matter what brand the pipe is. TUV cert = king.

Cert alone not enough, you need to have various forms of paperwork like drawings, certification, and what have you for review by LTA prior to approval.

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

Modification regulation strangulation. I like that haha. Well nothings gonna change. On one hand keep saying that bike owners should be responsible n ****. On the other hand catch n fine people on screamin eagles...which r really soft in terms of volume. All we get is a better tone of the sound. Still 80db as stamped on the pipes. So being on screamin eagles is being responsible. But u still get fined. So is it about noise or certification? What's the reason for this sudden surge of mindless enforcement that affects so many of us?

Seriously, they not trying to regulate it... They trying to prevent all mods. Make your life them difficult when you mod, make it hard to find out exaclty what is required to get mods "approved" and create a general sense of uncertainty and uneasiness...

End result 90+% of ppl give up trying... So no mods life easy for everybody and nobody can claim that LTA bo cho kang...

They really snuffing out creativity... From bikes i've seen on the road/ in the forum, i'm confident we have talent in Singapore that can make custom bikes as chio as any you see in bike mags or on shows like biker build-off or orange county choppers.

But instead of helping and guiding (yes regulating) they are using riot style suppression tactics to quash it.

Pity. Got talent but keep it locked up... Then bring in "foriegn talent" and tell you that S'pore needs this ppl who can think outside the box.

Let's face it... Their prob is not with the mods/ machines... They've just "profiled" ppl who like to chng chia as ppl who like to ride, drive dangerously.

Want to use shot gun tactic and just scare everyone into good behaviour.

If you go out in a group of ten bikes or more any TP or LTA see sure itchy to stop... They will find some lame reason to spoil the fun or just make you worried the rest of the night....

Cos their infallible reasoning? When so many bikers together... We looking for fun which = to trouble to them.

No more ranting... Sorry about that.

This link about exhaust modifications is from the LTA website, but is old from 2004.

http://app.lta.gov.sg/corp_new_content.asp?start=59

This is quoted from there:

"If you are replacing your vehicle's exhaust system with one that is designed and manufactured by the vehicle manufacturer for your vehicle model, you need not seek LTA's approval"

Assuming that the statement is still valid, wouldn't that mean that Screaming Eagle exhausts (street legal ones at least) need not require certification?

After all they are manufactured by Harley ("the vehicle manufacturer") and are labelled specific for which models and even years of manufacture.

Anyone with street legal Screaming Eagle exhaust that have kena summon by LTA before?

Or did everyone just go straight on to SE IIs or 49 states?

As far as I know, there are no street legal Screaming Eagles.

And yes, plenty of Screaming Eagles have been summoned before.

Ya lah, street legal in US doesn't mean street legal in Singapore. They can claim its street legal, but once in Singapore, as long as there is no certification from LTA, you pipes are still illegal, even if it is softer than stock. It doesn't matter. Its all about paperwork.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Genuine_Motor_Accessories/2012_GMA_Catalog/2012-Screamin_Eagle.pdf

Based on the above pdf catalog, their Screaming Eagle Street Performance slip ons are 50 state street legal in the US and are EPA stamped. (page 460, 462, 463)

Sound volume is not the issue... Because even if these street performance pipes pass emission & sound tests LTA still requires certification.

If not we could purchase them from the Harley dealer without worry about fines... And i'm sure the Harley dealer would be exploiting that to push the sale of these pipes (and i'm pretty sure they are not)

Which goes back to my question about the LTA webpage...

These pipes are designed by Harley for the Harley models specified and should not require LTA approval by their own words.

Either they've changed this clause since the release in 2004.... Or they can't interpret their own guidelines?

Could any kind souls please provide info on where and how much it costs

to fit the AK pipes on the Harley Tourers.

Do we have to get them from the approved merchants only or

could we just go get the same exact items online and go to our

trusted

Thank you.

Tony has ready stock for Touring, his supply is fm dealer, so no issue...

No point getting on line, price fm local dealer and Tony is competitive

n u will have LTA documentation issue if u get online..

cause LTA follows only EU and Japan standards.
