I have shared some tips in the thread created by you.

1. Ensure everyone must bring their log card. Those who dont have and cannot get one, better dont go for the trip as they might not let you in. Unless you can speak thai and in good wealth of luck.

2. Thai custom wants to see chasis number, engine number, cc and bike plate to tally with your ride. This is to prevent theft. It can be very messy at the sadao custom. Because you have to leave the bike unattended before the custom counters, get your paper work done.

3. Print the log card out from one motoring.com

4. Those who is the sub rider. Better to have Singapore insurance to prove he is the approved rider. If not they might see him as a thief. To play safe, get the owner to write a letter of authorisation to ride the bike.

5. You need total of 2 Malaysia white cards. One to leave Singapore-> Malaysia->Thailand. Another piece is to leave Thailand->Malaysia->Singapore.

6. At Sadao border, you have to go get the thailand white card from the visa counter. Its located at the left side of the custom where the mini office is.

7. Put 2.00 RM in your passport before handing over to the thai custom officer. Its the culture there. Dont worry.

8. Dont be ambitious and stressed the bike actually. I didnt reach hatyai in one day. I stopped by penang for sight seeing and went to hatyai on the third day.

9. Class 2b fuel consumption gets higher on the highway. Due to the windblast, cross wind, additional luggage etc. For the first tank, set a short limit distance petrol stop, for example 150km. By then everyone will roughly know their fuel consumption already. From there, you can do adjustment. Its never good to run of fuel on NSHW. The next R and R could be 70km away.

10. Have fun. Set time limit at each stop. But dont be too carried away with all the chit chat and missed the timing. Unlike malaysia and singapore custom that opeation on 24hr basis, sadao border closed at 12am Malaysia Time (If i am not wrong, i stand corrected) Btw thailand time is 1 hour behind our time. That means they closed at 11pm (Thai time). You missed the time, you will have to either sleep at the border or find a place to stay.

This is the procedure.

1. Reach Sadao Border. You see the thailand signboard. I am sure everyone wants to take picture with the word thailand as the backdrop with their bike.

2. Ride in, you will see a thai officer there. Go to him and parked the bike by the side of the barrier

3. Go left to the visa counter and get thai white card. Fill it up

4. Go to any of the counter that says 'passengers, car drivers' and get your passport stamped. Make sure you have 2.00RM inside the passport

5. Go to counter that says custom control. This is to register your bike with thailand. Produce your log card and passport. They will print out a paper for you. Sign the paper and go the counter besides for submission. They will return you a copy. Keep this copy safe and guard it like your life. Thailand wants this paper back during your departure.

6. An officer will tally your bike plate on the form with the bike before letting you go.

7. Enjoy your ride in thailand! Watch out for side roads and allies. The thais riders are very daring. They can dash out without checking for traffic.

3) ensure that ur printed copy has your address and vehicle details with it, cos i went with a friend sometime last yr, and he print the one without owner name and address(the thai custom wants to see the address of the owner)

6) just before malaysia custom(ard 100m), u can also get buy thai insurance and ask them to help u fill up the white card.

5) at the same counter where u get the thai vehicle import document, Pls ensure u get it stamped at the "window beside". i nearly missed it on my 1st visit to hatyai and luckily a nice custom officer pulled me there to get it stamped

No worries, Sadao is safe. Gonna paint a not so good picture for you in case you expecting for good standard custom set up like Singapore.

Yo, all preparation such as changing of rm and writing of white cards should preferably done in Singapore. Once you cleared checkpoint, the convoy should focus on the ride and nothing else.

Actually my recommendation for you is to fix a date soon and gathered everyone to do a trial ride in malaysia. This is to let everyone have a feel of riding in NSHW. Do a bit of distance so that they know their comfort zone and speed. Not everyone will like to ride on NSHW. After the trial ride, you may have ppl pulling out of the trip actually. Small cc bikes can can conquer Kje, Ecp, Pie, Cte easily with no sweat. But in NSHW, we are zero. Even the malaysia kup chai eat us deep deep good good.

You can do a desaru->Mersing->Ayer Hitam->Singapore ride. Go thru 2nd link, E22 highway to desaru then to Mersing. From mersing to ayer hitam and joined NSHW back to singapore.

Total distance around 500km. That should be a safe gauge for them. If they feel extremely tired and shack during this 500km ride. There is not way they can complete the hatyai.

Pm me if you need a guide. We can do a ride on the 25th Dec. I can bring your convoy on this trial ride.

For me, i normally keep my luggages light by bringing old clothes up. I will throw them away after using. Will buy new ones in hatyai. If i dont need to buy any, i will come back with even lighter luggages. ^_^

no u wun get charged cos its stated on the sign board to pay RM2

10) understood.. but anyone to clarify? I heard it's 6pm? Or is it 11pm? o_O

whether its 6pm or 11pm. IMHO, i think its a better idea to reach earlier.

Thanks!! :)

If u are talking about the thai insurance(14days), it should not cost more than RM30 including the thai white card writing services(i dun really remember).

for the $$ changing, GP northbound R&R shd be able to change, but not sure about its opening times, best is change locally before going for trips.

Yup.. normally I would advise them but "just in case".. :)

Trial ride done from GP to Machap.. and some people indeed fall out from the trip but some remain.. :)

Don't worry.. I understand.. Been there done that.. to melaka.. it was shoick! and just feel like going back there again.. heehee..

Don't worry, for now I would prefer to keep them at "resting" first.. haha.. anyway, they are mostly prepared for the trip.. :)
